View Full Version : Zoic capri bummer

Got my order (which I placed Friday afternoon) today from TE. Dang, that was fast! Unfortunately, the Zoic capris I ordered are terrifyingly small. The chickie on the phone said they tend to run small when I asked her. I was a bit concerned because all my measurements are at the edge of the size cut off L to XL. But they didn't have any XL. So I sprang for L and crossed my fingers.

Other than that, they were great. Nice soft material, good pockets, adjustable waist. The liner was nice too, it fit me very well and the chamois was light.

If they had fit me, I think they'd've been great for riding and for wearing to work. Really like the zippered thigh pockets.

Yep, those are the ones. Sigh, and they were gonna change my life, too. I was gonna be sooooo sexy. And fashionable. And faster by at least 3 mph. And my teeth were gonna look whiter, my eyes greener, my hair redder, and my freckles cuter. Gorgeous hotties were gonna offer to buy me drinks and clamor for my attention.

Really.

The chickie I talked to Friday said she didn't know if they would be getting any XL's again this year. If you are a 12, don't try the L.

Darn, well, I'm nowhere near a 12 I guess I'll just have to keep flossing and training for whiter teeth and 3 mph faster speed. :o

Seems like those urban style knickers are kinda slim through the hips... or maybe I have big hips. :D

Have you checked out the Gore Terra Lady 3/4 Knickers (http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=17556) or the Shebeest Boardrider Capris (http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=18654)? Both of those are available in XL. And if you order another pair as an exchange, TE won't charge to ship those out to you.

I tried the Shebeest ones in a large at the LBS. They looked way too tight and they didn't have an XL for me to try. They're kind of expensive anyway so I almost passed on them all together, but then REI had a sale so I used their 20% discount coupon and my member refund and it ended up being a nice deal. The XL's are slim at the hip and loose at the waist, but they have a little waist adjustment thingie which helps a lot. Plus the knees are articulated so you don't feel the fabric tugging at your thighs with every pedal stroke.

Those are cool, too. Part of why I really wanted the Zoics is that they are cotton. And I could wear them to work.

One of the biker chicks at work said she might be interested in my Zoics, so she'll try them on tomorrow.

I've been wearing my Royal Robbins capris with bike shorts underneath. Works well, so I'm interested in other capris. Especially with leg gussets like the Zoics have.

Maybe i should go check out the Gramicci website, too.

You might be looking specifically for a capri with a chamois or a pad, but if not, I really like these capris for my ride to work:

llbean ripstop capri (http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=1&catalogId=1&langId=-1&categoryId=40705&sc1=Search&feat=sr)

I like that they don't grab tightly around the thigh. They also have the articulated knees. There is one rear zipper pocket (and the two front reg. pockets). I also wear them hiking and kayaking, so they are good all around. They dry quickly.

I bought the pearl izumi versa capri from TE, and while I like the fabric and it is stretchy, the hips really hug. I feel like I need to wear something long with them.

Yes, but will any of them change your life?

I'm getting tempted by these. When I ride to work I bring a change of shirt but I stay in bike tights. Pants that look like pants would change my life :D

LL bean makes a capri with the chamois

Anyone tried llbean's cycling capri?

One thing I like about the ones I mentioned earlier in the thread is that they come in numbered sizes rather than S-M-L. Numbered sizes work better for me.

Something new to change my life. I shall become a wild and free spirit, singing into the wind, spreading joy to all who meet me, a smile on everyone's face as I ride by.

and gorgeous hotties will be offering to buy me drinks and clamoring for my attention... (mustn't forget that part!!:p )

www.terrybicycles.com/detail.html?c=Apparel&sc=Cycling+Bottoms&item_no=1264

I could wear them to work, too. And I can order the Wacoal CWX bra, which only Terry and Sahalie seem to carry.

If TE had both of these I'd be ordering them from TE.

will gorgeous hotties be able to get your attention over the loudness of the pants? :D ;)  :p

you go girrl, I could not carry it off the look, besides...clashes with my bike unless I go ahead and get my GT powder coated. Can walk into my LBS "here, match these".

I got called "sir" today at REI. I guess only men look at bikes, so there I was looking at bikes and "can I help you, sir?". I don't look like a "sir" and I was so stunned that all I could do was look the guy in the eye and say no.

Now, if I'd been wearing those LOVELY prana bike capris, I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN CALLED "SIR"!!!

Why do I always get called "sir"? I'm not butch. Tomboy femme, but definitely not butch. Is it because I'm tall? Is it because I don't have SCREAMING LOUD pants with HALLUCINOGENIC psycho flowers?

It is about the pants, Lance.

:D

KnottedYet
05-25-2006, 07:39 AM
Oh, crud. I am so sad.

Terry is sold out of psycho capris.

Someone out there is riding around in MY capris. (and gorgeous hotties are offering to by her drinks and blah blah blah...)

Parden the funny mental picture of Knotted out on a ride and SCREAMING LOUD pants with HALLUCINOGENIC psycho flowers and/or Zoic capris in her size go by "wait! those are my pants! If I can't get in those pants can I at least buy you a drink?"

As for the being called sir part I think sometimes people see what they expect to see.

Tall person in a bike shop = gotta be a guy
Passing a guy on a bike = gotta be a guy
Handy with a pedal wrench = gotta be a guy

and then they look and "oops".

These aren't the same as the prana capris, but maybe these could help change your life. They're bright!

That person at REI probably just needs to check his/her prescription. hehe. I'm sure they did a mental "oops" and were too embarassed to correct themselves. Or maybe that person is a humongous fan of Marcie, from Charlie Brown. :)

Why'd I ever listen to a guy? My LBS sold me these kick a** wheels. "get these wheels, chicks dig the wheels" he says.

Men. What do they know? And here all along I needed multi color capris.

Do I need the Keens to match?

Do I need the Keens to match?

My first thought was, no, they should not match, they should clash. But that would be advice for a guy. Definitely the Keens must match.

Trek420

I ordered a pair of cycling capris from Zoic on the official Zoic site, I'll post a review when they arrive.

I don't know if they will change my life but some won't recognise me since I'll neither be in lycra...nor blue jeans. I don't think that will change my life but it could change how often I commute by bike ;-)

KnottedYet
05-25-2006, 08:39 PM
Hmmmm, those boardwalk capris are mighty fine... I should do more research.

"Keens to match"

Yes, you must get Keens. I have to admit I own 3 pair, and though my feet are very happy, I can't say they've seriously changed my life. They do start brief conversations along the lines of "Hey, I have a pair of those!" The operative word here is Brief.

Perhaps I should change my name to "Knotgettnany".

Must find Prana-replacements to assuage my bitter disappointment and cynical outlook on life.

Retail therapy! Hey, Trek, I'm gonna look for Zoic's website, too. Which capris did you order?

"if i can't get in those pants..." Trek, you are Baaaaaaaaad! :D

Aloe or black, Trek dear?

(I'm partial to the aloe, simply because my Royal Robbins are black and my Ibex are black, and my Horny Toad are dark grey, etc etc. It's always best to broaden one's horizons.)

Too bad Ibex's 3/4 Pingos are pale pale sand color. Can you say dirt and stains? Ain't payin' $95 for something clumsy ol' me will ruin in a week.

I might just order the Aloe XL from Zoic tomorrow, since TE is rapidly running out of all Zoics and is out of XLs entirely.

Could always embroider something hallucinogenic on the Zoics. Pink skull and crossbones would be favorite. ;)

I've got the aloe Zoic Capri's, so far so good. They fit good, I was a little concerned at first about the chamois (a little large in the butt area, never had padding on the butt), so we'll see how they work out. What's nice is that if the chamois is too big, you can take them out and wear another pair of shorts under the capri.

Help the unclothed computer illiterate!

Ok, I went to Zoic. Tried to order over the phone. No phone orders. Went back to Zoic. Couldn't figure out if the site is secure or not. There's no little padlock thingy, and the order page says "yahoo" so what gives?

I don't order ANYTHING over the internet. I'm a big chicken.

How do I know it's a secure website?

Are the capri gods trying to tell me to spend my money on groceries instead?

Drove to work today instead of riding. As I was going to my car, gorgeous hottie from my building was carrying her bike down to ride to work. Of all the days for me to DRIVE. (and not have screaming loud pants)

when you click on the "order" radio button the http: in the address bar changes to https:

Thank you for the computer help. Dang, this here modern teknologee gets me all lost and confuzzled.

I think the writing is on the (computer) wall paper, as it were. Must release my capri desires back to the universe. Deep cleansing breath. Ommmmmm.

Put on my Terry commuter skort (WILD and HALLUCINOGENIC Hawaiian print) and rode like a demon up and down the hills and around the track at the school near me. My catfish belly white legs darn near blinded me.

Must wear that more. It's getting too big.

Dug out a pair of old Gramiccis, and am turning them into capris. Intend to embroider pink skull-n-crossbones on the hems. Must wear them more, cuz they're getting too big, too.

Next year if they don't fit anymore I will splurge early in the season for a pair of fab-o biking capris.

I have found my peace. Filled my soul with tranquility. Appeased the capris gods. Heeded their message.

(and there is something delightfully subversive about WSD pink skull-n-crossbones)

Now I'm pondering a Sierra order. But I just finished my Grammici-cut-offs-capris. (wore them today to a BBQ) Can I justify buying more?

My friend bought my Zoics, so I don't have to send them back. They looked darn good on her.

I'm sure they'll change her life.

Trek, do you have yours yet? Is your life instantly changed?

Didn't get to ride my bike today. Missed a great ride opportunity, but got free food at a BBQ. And some of the watermelon I contributed. And 2 bottles of Red Hook ESB. (extremely super beer! enjoy slowly, it's better! eat some bratwurst!) My favorite beer.

Nice, my cycling group is planning a ride tonight for 20 miles, followed by dinner at the Market Street Pub. I would have looked so cool in the Pranas...Will have to see if I have any skirts that match any jerseys/tops. My two Presta Tanks are plain lime green and plain pink...

No capris yet, maybe the UPS gal is wearing them and they are changing her life. But I wasn't expecting any deliveries Sunday or Memorial day. So today could be the day :)

My LBS e-mailed me I might be picking up Bradley, my GT commuter from the shop tomorow. Bradley's getting new Mavic wheels. They are a combo 50th bd present from my family including Bikeless and bd present to myself.

I can't wait to try them....and the capris out.

I had the exact same issue with the Zoics. I also tried the sheebeest xl which I could get on okay but they bunched up in the crotch. I also tried the LLBeans which were HORRIBLE. (their bike capris).

I tried the Terrys which were the best but again, I got the bunching feeling. I decided I don't really like the two layer pants. They are just too much clothes to be wearing when I ride!

OK, both those capri's gave me a blazing headache... of course I did have my eyes dylated for an eye exam today but YOWIE-KaZOWIE! Those pants were screamin'.

I have a pair of last years (I think) Zoic capries from here on TE. A nice kacki with a camo pattern back waistband. I promply cut the chamois biker liner out and just wear 'em for hangin' around.

And I have red KEENS. They don't necessarily match everything I wear them with but the importance of that is overshadowed by the overwhelming comfort factor.
