Hey There-
I know I can count on you fine ladies to come through for me this morning.
My neighbors young daughter is having surgery for Cerebral Palsy today. It's a really dicey surgery. They have to pull her spinal cord up out of her body and then cut about 25 nerves. As you can probably guess there are alot of things that can happen in a procedure like this. But at the same time it's a surgery that may allow her to walk some day, so her parents felt they had to take the chance.
So if I could ask that you send a few healing vibes and/or prayers - if so inclined- towards Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix today, I would really appreciate it.
her name is Jenna and she is a sweet little girl. She's kinda fiesty like all of us too! She is constantly fighting to do the same things her siblings do. And I see her watch them ride their bikes with envy in her eyes. Maybe someday she'll be able to ride a bike too!
Thanks All
Have a great day, and don't forget to embrace life!
Denise

Oh, sweet baby Jenna, you're gonna come out strong and able :D :D :D !

Your post brought tears to my eyes. I can imagine how terrified those parents are. That fighter spirit in that girl will serve her well in this, I'm sure.

My thoughts and prayers are with them. I have a 3 yo myself who had surgery at 16 months. NOTHING prepares you for seeing your little one's going through this, and his was minor compared to this. God bless them all and keep us posted.

I just spoke with another neighbor and little Jenna came through the surgery ok. I don't have alot of details, other than that she is in alot of pain and on morphine. It does sound like all went well though. I would imagine it's too soon to know if it worked.
Thanks SO MUCH for all your kind words and prayers. I'm going to pass them on to the family.
I'll keep you all posted on her progress. I think her mother said they have PT scheduled for next week already. Keep those fingers crossed that it worked!
Much love to all of you on here! You gals are THE BEST!

I talked to her mom lastnight and the surgery went well. Of course there is alot of pain involved, and the poor little thing is on morphine so I'm sure she's wondering what the heck mom and dad did to her! ha ha
But she was talking a bit lastnight, so that's god. I'm actually headed to the hospital this morning. I'm going to take her siblings to the zoo.
Thanks again all. I told her mom about this thread and she thought it was really cool. Her remark is " I can't believe how nice people have been to us"...

She's HOME!!!! I saw her family when I went out to the mailbox today and they had the little sweet pea in the car. She was a bit out of it from all the meds, but once again she defied the odds! This little girl is amazing.
I was so happy to see her, and when I said good bye to her she mouthed in a real sleepy head way "bye bye". Man I think I shed a few tears! She is just an angel.
So THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for all your thoughts, vibes, and prayers! They worked!! And I know the family is grateful.
But she still has LOTS of therapy and a long way to go, so keep those prayers/vibes/thoughts going. And of course I'll keep ya'll updated.

It would probably be really meaningfull/exciting for Jenna and motivating for you to pin her name and maybe a little picture of her on your jersey during IM AZ.

Woooohoooo!!! You can always heal better and faster when you are in your own home and surrounded by your loved ones and the things you love.
And that was awsome of you to take the other kids to the Zoo for them. I help out a lot with my friends and Neighbors kids too and know how much it means when you help out like that. You are a good friend to rally up all these good feelings for them. Again keep us posted from time to time on her progress.

Hey how did the soap work out?

Running Mommy
03-19-2006, 08:24 AM
Ohhh.. the soap is GREAT! My cousin was even commenting on it last weekend. I have one in my bath and one in the guest bath.
Sorry, sometimes I'm DIM about these things!! But yeah, we LOVE it! Tell your friend her handiwork is fabulous! :)
