Weekend of Tri'ing

Well, after one choppy attempt at a tri in '11, and all du's in '12, I finally decided to get back into triathlon.
I figured, I stink so bad at running, why do I focus on events that have me do it twice?

So, this past Sunday, I did a nice little tri on the Maryland Eastern Shore.
Less than 150 racers, short distance, flat and fast. Good way to jump back into it.

Overall it went well. Came in 61st overall (top 50%).
Was 4th in my AG. Got nipped at the line by a woman in my AG and I didn't have enough firepower to stop her train.
She cashed in on my weak run by snagging the 3rd podium spot. Drat!
Had an okay swim - not bad considering it was my 4th time ever in open water and my first time racing in a wetsuit.
I fumbled quite a bit with it in T1.
Crushed the bike - as per normal for me in a race.
Close to DFL on the run - it's just not my thang.

Congrats! Was the open water swim in the bay or the ocean?

Pretty? Who wants to look pretty during a tri? You look strong and competitive. When's the next one?

NYB - swim was in a tidal river off the bay. The tide was coming in so we had a bit of a current to deal with - not much but enough to have to think about it.
Roo4 - Thanks. A friend said "if you don't look bad at the end of a race, you're not racing hard enough!" :)
Next one is in August. Then September. All sprints. Next year, I'll try an Olympic up in Connecticut with some friends.
