Hey SadieKate,
Do you sell the gloves you make? Karen showed me the ones you made for her today and they are soooo nice. Do they come in purple?
:D

Urgggh. :o I got a whole long line o' people on my list including me who hasn't gotten anything knitted for herself in almost a year.

However, I have a great idea! MBB's daughter asked for the recipe and I'm trying to get it typed up this weekend. Maybe she's looking for a guinea pig.

I wish, I wish I could . . .

Sarah

Your color choices just in case MBB Jr. cooperates.

You knit gloves too? Wow! That's cool! When do I get back on the list?

Thanks SadieKate.
I'd love a copy of the directions if you'd like to share. I see there is purple and lavender yarn. I just couldn't get over MBB's and how wonderfully soft they were. She loved them by the way. How very thoughtful of you.

Thanks for being understanding, Surly. That list is long! Of course, I will share the directions. Do you knit also? I was going to put together a packet of stuff and send to MBB. I can make a second set for you.

Veronica, these were really wristies, fingerless gloves, that are great for wearing around a cold house.

Or in New England which is even colder. (watching weather channel and big snow coming)

Yes SadieKate I do knit some. Not as much as I use too because of my darn Carpal Tunnel, my hands go numb. If it is not to much trouble, I'd love the directions, or I can get them from MBB if that would be better.
Thanks again Toots.

would it be possible to post the directions here? I would love a pair of fingerless gloves for my lil hands and it would be a great way to use some of my left over soft yarns!

PS: have you seen any of the Noro yarns yet?? LOVE their colours!

But of COURSE it's always beautiful here in NM - but since I"m a desert rat, anything under 50 degrees is cold and during the shortest days of the month when the sun sets around 5:00 pm, it's too dark for me!......which means I start my hibernation around Thanksgiving and come out around Groundhogs Day! :p
Surly looking out at Snow, fog, rain bluck=CorsairMac not even bothering to get out of electric-mattress pad heated, heavyweight feather comforter over flannel sheets bed, it just ain't worth it!

Back to the more relevant topic to this forum (ahem, knitting :p ) . . .

Guess I'm going to making lotso copies. Corsair, I'll mail you a packet also.

In the meantime, does everyone know about Knitty? Fun articles, a great forum and free patterns.

Corsair, my very first (and only longsleeve) sweater was made from Noro because all first large projects should use cheap yarn.

Surly, if you liked the yarn in Karen's wristies and need to order. One skein did the trick. Instead of tonight being my S&M night, guess it's going to be S&T (shot and typing) night. My pattern is currently a bunch of pencil squiggles.

I never learned to knit though I always wanted to. My mother knitted but she never taught any of us. My parents always wanted us to be doing things like studying. :P

Is there any good resources out there on learning to knit?

Mel

Mel, I'd go buy a book or two because you'll want the pictures. You could be downloading and printing out directions forever and ever and ever if you try to do it from the 'net. You can find the info but you have to know what to look for and put it together piecemeal. At least, I would find it frustrating to do it that way.

Here are a few books I'd recommend:

Sally Melville's Knitting Experience Series starting with the Knit Stitch:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1893762130/qid=1138658746/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/002-8364664-3700027?s=books&v=glance&n=283155

Stitch & B**tch has some funky projects
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0761128182/ref=cm_bg_f_2/002-8364664-3700027?v=glance&n=283155

Good basic book by Debbie Bliss with a more traditional theme
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1570761450/sr=1-9/qid=1138658650/ref=pd_bbs_9/002-8364664-3700027?%5Fencoding=UTF8

Of course, a beginner's class at your local shop is great because they'll help you decipher the confusing world of needle size and type, yarn type, gauge, etc., etc., etc.

Hi SadieKate,
Well I have one wristie done and I love it! Its even purple to match my bike. I think I'll wear them post ride when my hands are cold. My yarn store had only a few Debbie Bliss so I opted for another brand. I haven't knit in a long time so I had to go to knittinghelp.com to refresh my memory on a few things.
Thank you again. Great pattern.

You are very welcome. Glad you like them. Sounds like my horribly detailed instructions worked or you're just being polite.
