Padding that feels like a maxi-pad

I am working up to a 400 mile ride. I would like some more comfortable shorts but don't really know what to look for. I don't really want "heavy chamois". I have a Pearl Izumi skort with an underlayer that I love the look of and I love the legs but the padding is like wearing a maxi pad. I want padding on my butt bone, not so much on my crotch.

Suggestions are appreciated.

Note the size chart -- many people wear one size larger in these shorts than they do in other shorts.

I like the LG chamois as well. Castelli's KISS-3 chamois is also nice and thin.

IME, the less expensive Pearl Izumi stuff has a thicker chamois. The chamois in the PRO and Elite bottoms is less bulky, and tends to "de-fluff" after a few washes and wears. My PRO chamois makes me crazy for the first few rides, and then becomes long ride-worthy. For shorter rides, I pick my Terry Bella shorts with the thinner FlexAir chamois.

Sometimes the more diapery ones soften up and break down after several washings and wearings.

Also, the PI pros with the red chamois is nice. And the men's version is cut almost the same in dimensions, but has less padding over forward region.


I like the PI Pro shorts as well.

I appreciate the input very much. Though they were expensive, I ordered some of the shorts tonight.
