Hi all. I am finally going to invest in a clipless system. I am looking for the right shoes and getting tripped up. I think I have settled on SPD-compatibles - I want to go with the Shimano A530 pedal to give me a solid option for street shoes, since I frequently tool around town with the kids and wouldn't want to have to take an extra pair of shoes or clip all the time. Most of my rides, even longer (20+ miles) involve stopping for a bite to eat or something, so I've ruled out road shoes. My budget is <$100 and I wear around a 7.5. My problem is that most shoes are too wide for my foot. Also, I need velcro with no laces or buckles as these will also be used for triathlons. Yes, I want everything :o Shimanos are out - can't get them tight enough. Pearl Izumis just seemed uncomfortable. Sidis seem too expensive. So, I like the Specialized Riata, but I'm intrigued by the Louis Garneau Women's Multi Rx. I can't find them locally though, and wonder if anyone has experience with 1) sizing (do they rn narrow? Wide?) and 2) stiffness, since they seem to be a spin type shoe, would the Riata's be stiffer? If they are narrow and stiff, I might go that way because I don't need all the tread on the Riata. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Until the above sentence, I was going to whole-heatedly recommend Keen sandals. Sandals are my go-to "shoe" for everything. I even love them in the winter, when I can put as many sock layers on as I need to keep warm. They are velcro and I would wear them for triathlons, but I would also come in last...

I'm not sure how the women's LGs run, but I have 2 pair of their men's shoes (CFS-300 and TFlex-300 -- the road and mountain version of the same shoe), because I have a wide foot and need the toe room that men's shoes provide. I LOVE them! They are as nice as top of the line Sidis, but at a much nicer price-point. They also have a good, narrow, cupping heel. I had a pair of women's Sidi Dominators that were too narrow through the toes, but my heels slipped out of them. I have duck feet. :p
