I am currently wearing PI Gel Vent gloves and mostly like them, though I bought them too large (because the mediums felt so snug in the store--but it turns out they stretch), then start to pull on the areas between the bases of my fingers.
I'm open to trying something new. My hubby has some of those $65 leather Giro gloves and loves them, but I'm not sure I want to spend THAT much on a pair of gloves, since I tend to lose them (I had 2 pair of the PIs, but am back down to 1, heh). Something in the $30-40 neighborhood would be preferable. I really like the gel palm cushions, too.

I love my Shebeest gloves (http://www.teamestrogen.com/prodSB_7771_0.html). They are super comfy and they wash and wear well. The little microfiber cloth across the thumb also seems larger than on my PI gloves and it makes it a little easier to wipe your nose and the sweat from your eyes. TE used to have them in black & white too - I have the white version - but the link is for the pink and blue ones.

I'm no help in this regard. I like the PI Gel Vents myself.
And now I see that they changed them. Grrr. I should have bought another pair last year. Mine are starting to look ratty.

I really like mine, too. I am tempted to try the new ones in a more appropriate size.

It's been my experience that, when it comes to gloves, PI's sizing is a bit larger than other manufacturers.
Right now, I have a pair of Giordana Silverline gloves that I like. They're lightly-padded in only the important spots, don't have velcro, and there's lots of real estate for nose wiping.

I'm on the border between a small and a medium. I bought the small because the medium was a little too big, plus DBF warned me that they stretch. (He has the non-crazy vents version.)
I picked up some cheapy Specialized gloves from the LBS as a pair of spares, as I don't like my current spares. They're actually surprisingly comfy, though I need the crazy vents so I'm not going to use them on really long/hot rides. They also match my bike. :o:D
EDIT: My gloves are a men's small. I think I would take a medium in women's.

Well...I'm back to using a new pair of women's Spenco Ironman Elite T.2 (http://www.amazon.com/Spenco-Ironman-Elite-Womens-Glove/dp/B003UWDSPO) cycling gloves. I had fairly good success with these last year, but needed a new pair so I ordered some a few weeks back from Amazon. They're a bit pricey...in the $36-42 range, but I like the fact that they don't close at the wrist. Instead, they close with their "Rip-It" system, which is a velcro closure on the back of the hand. Very easy to get off and sometimes I just ride with the velcro "open" to give my hands a bit more air. I ordered mediums this time around (I normally wear L or XL in women's gloves) and they fit good. Lots of gel padding on the palm, and a very large terry nose-wiping area on the thumb.

I'm still searching for my "favorite gloves." I have a lot of PI gloves and they aren't bad, but hard to get a consistent fit.
But I can tell that the best fitting gloves I've ever owned are Terry, but they are also the worst gloves I've ever had. The velcro is reversed - so when you wipe your nose, you are presented with the needle side of the velcro instead of the fleecey side. VERY PAINFUL! What were they thinking?

My favorite gloves are ones that do not have holes in them. Sadly, all mine have holes at the moment...

These Giordana gloves @ Team Estrogen are a staff favorite. I love em. First impression was they were too padded, But i loved em after the first ride. Only thing wrong with them is they are red and starting to fade after two years. PI's never lasted through the summer for me.

Any glove with pull-tabs that fit me are my favorite. Pull tabs are a deciding factor for me. Everything else being equal. Heck - most of the time I won't even bother unless they have pull tabs on them.

Botrangers. They are the only gloves I can find with absolutely no padding. They cost $40.00 and they are never on sale . Anywhere. But, I was desperate last year, as my hands were killing me and it was definitely from the tiny amount of padding in my Terry and PI gloves.

I LOVE these gloves (http://www.gorebikewear.com/remote/Satellite/PROD_GCOUME?landingid=1208436857364A)! There really isn't much padding, but the grippy surface is fantastic! The men's small fit me fine.
I found a pair of long-fingered mountain bike gloves from my LBS that just has a tiny patch of padding on the outside/upper portion of the palm. They jury is out whether they will fit me or not, and they are $60...sadly I've expensive tastes and a beer budget :o
They ordered them for me and we will see if they fit - if they do will put them on layaway... I suspect they won't fit though, I've long fingers and slender/narrowish hands & have yet to find a pair of long-fingered gloves for mtb where the fingers are long enough without bunching in the palm area. I didn't START looking at the $$$ gloves.

Several of my male biking buddies have the Ironman gloves and just LOVE them. I have PI's which I think are fine, but have nothing to compare them with as that's all I've ever had. Next time I'll give the Ironmans a try.

Here they are, my favorite gloves! Like a second layer of skin that you can't even tell they are on, but they for the trick! Hands are no longer sore after long ride  http://www.pearlizumi.com/publish/content/pi_2010/us/en/index/product_series/ride/women/select_series/gloves.-productCode-8602.html

Gloves are like saddles, really a very personal choice. I love these (http://www.sugoi.com/usa/eng/Products/Accessories/Women/Gloves/Details/1784-91527F.232-Betty-Glove) Sugoi Betty gloves. Very thin padding, good protection between the thumb and first finger, fits well. Also nice and red like my bike. I also like the more thinly padded LG gloves, and my Terry (http://www.terrybicycles.com/Accessories/gloves/Euro-Gloves) Euro gloves.
Gloves like the Specialized, which I also have (I must have 10 pairs of road gloves) and Perl Izumi have lumpy hard padding that I don't find comfortable.
I used to have Spenco gloves and miss them dearly. They were from the early 90s and were very thinly padded-not lumpy- and I loved them. But they were stolen out of my truck with most my cycling accessories when it was broken into many years ago. Their new stuff is way too lumpy and thick for me.
For mountain bikes, it's FOX FOX FOX full finger gloves.

It's really intriguing how few duplicate faves I'm seeing. Wow.

I have no idea what brand my half fingered gloves are, except I got them several yrs. ago from REI when we were in the U.S.
I buy stuff and stockpile them abit. :p
I like them because.....I don't notice them and my hands feel just right in them. Not binding, not too bumpy with too much padding.
Has a white tree silhouette with branches, on the hand part, which looks quietly stylish. Black, grey overall glove colour with some white.
I tend to buy all my gloves now, just a shade bigger, not extra small. Just so that when I get hot, I won't be struggling to get gloves off my slightly swollen fingers due to heat.

I'm leaning toward these, right now. What do you think of the fit? I found some reviews online that suggested that they might run a hair small. Have you ever worn the PI Gel Vent gloves? I thought those ran small, too, but they stretch and I'm wishing I'd gone with mediums of those, instead of larges.

I really like the Specialized gloves. They make them with gel for more padding or just regular. I actually like the ones with the gel. Although I have small hands I take a medium in these and I get a few seasons out of them.

I wear Bontragers because they don't have much in the way of padding and I find that they tend to run small and it's hard to find gloves that can fit my small, puny fingers.

Well, it's an older model, but closest to the Nimbus in how the palm looks. I've had mine for a few years and alternate between it and the Sugoi.
