Just got back from a trip to Northern MI with the family. We spent a day on Mackinac Island. I'm very glad we brought our own bikes. Some of the hills were straight up. We also biked the path around the island, about 8.5 miles--it was one of the most scenic rides I've ever done.
We camped at Wilderness State Park and did some hiking and mountain biking with the kids. We took the kids on an Adventure Bike Ride Explore (that's what we called it). We brought our hiking boots and I made a "scavenger hunt" list for the kids. They had a blast. The trail was rougher and more secluded than I anticipated. We saw a lot of wildlife. We lost a wheel off the Burley at one point, but DH was able to patch it together temporarily. A few sections of trail were covered with water deep enough so that the burley looked like a motor boat and dd put her feet up on the handlebars of the tag-along to keep from getting soaked. :)
And following tradition, we took the kids on a night-hike. There are a lot more wildlife out after the sun goes down. We hiked out to Waugoshance Point. The highlight was hearing a pack of wolves barking and yelping!
