View Full Version : small victories but significant to me

Today I actually managed to run a mile. Yes it was indoors around and around the basket ball court at the gym but still, it is the first time in over 20 years that I have managed to run that far. Better yet, I could have done more. Also yesterday I did two sets of 25 leg thrusts at 240 pounds followed by 50 sit ups on a decline bench against a 40 pound resistance band.

probably not much for most of you to shout about, but believe me, for me, it is highly significant. Of course after I have had to take recovery time for the mastectomy it will be back to square one again, but at least this time, perhpas I won't have quite so far to climb out of the hole.

Awesome!!

You'll be right back at it, you'll see. You've proven that you can do it and that's half the battle. Plus we all have faith in you and that counts for something, right?

Great job :)

Yay! Enjoy that feeling - the nice way your body feels after a run, and the nice way your head feels after a distance milestone. :)

That's awesome, marni! I picked up running again recently, and believe me, I was excited by the same milestone. Running is hard!

Congratulations! That's fabulous!!

I ran a mile once in my life, and could not do it now. I can amble a mile, but that's not quite the same thing, is it...? :D

Excellent! As to going back to square one, it is a strong and solid square because of all the work you've done on your fitness, a good platform to start on. You're going to do great.

Way to go! Not only is that an accomplishment, but you're cutting down on your recovery time by starting out in good shape. :)

Damn, I can't run full stop, maybe waddle a little.

After your op, read back on these posts, that should be pretty good encouragement.

Well done you.

Way to go!

I haven't tried to run a mile in decades!
I love the non-runner confessions too.
