I wanted to share this link to an article by Sarah Wolpow, which appeared in the Times Record in Maine. I found this in another bicycle blog here locally and really enjoyed it.

Why put all this effort into biking? Mostly because I like it. Great article, and she makes such good points about all the short trips that most people fire up the car for.

However, I wasn't too thrilled with this::

"Pound for pound, a person on a bicycle expends less energy than any creature or machine covering the same distance. Less than a salmon swimming, less than eagle flying, less than a gazelle running, less than a car driving."

I want to expend energy so I can eat lots! :D
