We had snow overnight. About 2-3 inches, maybe more. It's raining now. Just west of here, up to 10 inches.

Sorry, about that Crankin. We are all melted, having record highs probably today - I can't believe it, it is supposed to be 70 today. I will miss it though - heading for Tucson in the 90's Wow!

Yup - we lost an apple tree and a huge limb from a maple in the backyard. Not a funny April Fools joke.

The county next to me got a couple of inches in the northern areas and their schools opened two hours late. Down by me and in the southern areas of the county, it's just a bit misty and wet, so when teenagers started coming downstairs this morning reporting the two hour delay apparently every parent thought it was an April Fool's joke! I saw the news online and didn't believe it until I checked with the county's website.

Sorry about those trees, SheFly. I always worry that a tree is going to fall on my roof, given the fact we are surrounded, even after having some removed that were just too close to the house.
Sun seems to be trying to come out now. The melting has commenced. Hoping to ride on Sunday, maybe tomorrow PM, if I am lucky. All of our snow had melted and the town cleaned up the streets in the past 2 weeks.
About 3-4 inches here in Worcester, and it's been rained on some so there's slush around. The good thing is that it will probably melt quickly.

Bummer! I agree, not funny.

We got 2 inches, but it's melting steadily and we won't need to shovel it. Winter doesn't have a chance anymore. :D

Snow is quickly melting. None on the streets, even earlier when I went out. Our plow guy actually came and did the hill part of my driveway and DH shoveled the slush away from in front of our house, because he had put the snowblower away. I insisted, so in case it freezes (though it's not going to be below freezing tonight), we could get the bikes out tomorrow, without slipping and killing ourselves.
It's supposed to be 50 tomorrow and I will be riding, despite the wind and wet roads.

Not sure what to believe but they are predicting a dump of 10-15 cms. of snow and winds 30-50 km/hr. this weekend.
Moisture from warmer Pacific coast, over mountains to freeze on us.
Unless it's a warm chinook (http://www.websters-online-dictionary.org/definitions/Chinook%20Wind?cx=partner-pub-0939450753529744%3Av0qd01-tdlq&cof=FORID%3A9&ie=UTF-8&q=Chinook%20Wind&sa=Search#922) wind. The term is a bastardized aboriginal (native Indian) term that mixes in French.
It is a weather phenomena specific to this part of the Canadian Rockies because of our proximity to the whole ridge of the Canadian Rockies.
We (Calgary) are around 100 kms. east of the Canadian Rockies

Yuck. I love snow in January (if it's going to be cold anyway...) but NOT in April. We've even had it here in NC as late as April 18th (2"!), I heard on the local weather the other night. And I remember moving one year on my birthday (April 7) and big wet snowflakes falling, when we thought it was a "spring" move!
Hope it warms and melts very soon for all you folks! We've been chilly and rainy here in NC this past week but finally dried out today and are supposed to start warming up tomorrow afternoon. I'm so ready!

Oh, please no! I'm back in Seattle now to escape the snow! I am reveling in today's tropical storm. : )
I left DH and happyfundog up north where they still have 3' of snow on the ground. Gonna do the long distance thing for a few months . . .

the SW/SE parts ofWestern Australia are headed for another icky drought if we don't get rain soon. We've not had a substantial amount (ie that would help the dams) for almost 3 months. In march, the daytime temp in Perth/surrounds didn't dip below 30C.
I don't know about you but can you see the consequences? We don't have any water restrictions atm and the new desalination plant isn't open yet.

NB-I hope working in Canada didn't leave you with a bad taste in your mouth :(.
Shefly-I remember the Ice Storm in eastern canada in the 90's.
Ah yes, living in Alberta where one can get snow at anytime of the year . We learnt very quickly in guides that you never ever dust the snow off your tent :o

That's just it -- I was never able to find work up there. Made some good friends, but I couldn't gain any traction in the professional community in Edmonton. No professional reciprocity between jurisdictions, combined with my sense that the local employers favored kids with certs from NAIT over an outsider with a master's degree. I would have been willing to suck it up and work for less, but I guess there's this perception that someone with an advanced degree should cost more. My talks with the companies I interviewed never even got that far.
Been meaning to PM you about some of those planning articles you linked a while back but have been busy with my move.

Were you able to get your job in the PNW back??? Do you have to start again w a new company?
Geez and companies complian they can't hire good people . You're from an english speaking country, have good qualifications etc...
Are you n your man going to move on again? Perhaps Australia might not be a bad choice....Wasn't Melbourne a choice at one time? Same weather as seattle in many respects :(

Well, NByNW you need to feel satisified where you live. Sorry that Edmonton didn't pan out well for you.
He and I are doing the long distance thing. But then, not new to us..he lived in Calgary, then cycled solo in NZ for a few months...for over 2 yrs. while I remained in Toronto. I made the right decision, career-wise for myself at that time since the job proved to open more doors to different types of jobs later... But it was difficult for first few months: I couldn't cycle by his former place in Toronto after he relocated.
I hope you find employment soon.

I do need to start again with a new company, but mostly because there was no room to grow at my old company.
You have a great memory! Melbourne was a choice for a brief period. For the moment we've decided that going that far abroad is in the distant future. Parents are getting older and we'd like to at least be on the same continent.
SS, you're right -- I gave Edmonton 18+ months and that's plenty. Life is too short to stay someplace where you feel like you're going nowhere.
ETA: 69 degrees on my back porch and the sun is shining!
