I have a real problem getting comfortable on trails I don't know well. It is almost guaranteed my first time at a trail will suck. My husband, women who lead rides and my teacher say I am too nervous and a way better rider than I let myself believe.
Today for instance we pre-rode the trail for my next race and I was walking things I could ride (especially downhills). It is like I was too nervous to see a line. I did almost another full lap and was much more loose, reading the trail better, etc... But not every race I have time for multiple pre-rides and we like to go try out new trails.
Any suggestions to believe in myself on new trails or ones I don't ride often?
