Okay guys, this is kind of embarrassing.
I know everyone who does this pretty much wears a sports bra.
But i have bigger, gravity-worn breasts and wearing a sports bra has never been comfortable for me.
Do you have any suggestions? Anyone have a similar problem and a workable solution?
Thanks!

i hear you on that - I have had such a struggle finding the right bra. I just bought a Moving Comfort bra - it has underwire and cups. So far, so good. Champion also makes a good underwire bra you could try. Title 9 Sports seems to have about the best athletic bra selection I have found. Good luck!

Darned that gravity! If this keeps up I'm gonna start spending all my time on my hands instead of my feet-that'll even everything out, right? :D How this will work out on a bike I don't know...
I'll second the Moving Comfort bras but see if you can't find them local so you can try them on first, like bike seats, what works for this person doesn't always do the job for the next.
And yes, that was me doing jumping jacks in the dressing room-checking for bouncivity, you know...

I just saw a couple bras for DD's in an Athleta catalog- one looked more like a regular bra than a sports bra. They have a website. It's a women's sporting goods company.

If I did jumping jacks I'd knock myself out.
Stupid gravity.
One good thing though - you know the pencil test to help you tell how saggy you are?
I tried it just to see and discovered I could hold an encyclopedia if I wanted. (slight exaggeration).
Still, I'd imagine the extra storage could be nice while biking. ;)

I'm a DD too, (I'm a title 9 bras fan), the storage is really useful!!!
I regularly use the girls to hold my glasses, MP3 player, food, keys...guys are a little wierded out by it though.

The only time I've really weirded out a guy was on a date when my boob started ringing. He didn't understand that it's a great place to keep a cell phone!

LOL: I thought I was the only one to use the sports bra as a storage chamber. Even my guy friends now ask me, if I'm looking for something, if it's in "storage" and half the time it is! Great place for keys, sunglasses, cell phone, money etc.
I'm very large chested. Hate it, but of well. I wear two bras to keep everything from bouncing. I basically wear a regular bra and then over that a sports bra (now you can understand how I have such good storage!). The problem is wicking away moisture. I haven't found yet a combo that keeps me dry. If any of you DDD gals out there have a recommendation, let me know.

I do that a lot... wear a regular bra and a sports bra over it to keep from bouncing too much...
Though when I read your question I had a great mental picture of not only the two bras, but - in order to keep you dry, a towel stuck in between your chest sticking out the top and the bottom. I've been sitting here giggling for a minute... cause, that's something i can see myself doing.
I don't really have a moisture problem whenever I work out... no matter how much water I drink, I don't sweat much. I wonder if there's a different type of regular bra material that might be more handy, like a mesh...?

I actually need to find something with CoolMax or some other moisture wicking material. I do sweat alot, I mean dripping especially if it is hot or I am working hard. I know that means my body is doing it job and working efficiently but I hate all the wet, top to bottom.

The Enell, or "last resort bra" is the be all and end all for DD and up IMO. It's 11 hooks and eyes, requires acrobatics to put on, and is momentarily painful, but is TOTALLY worth it!
I was a 36DDD and it held me flat as a pancake for jumping jacks and running. I still wear one for mountain biking and running. They're expensive, but can be found new on ebay for about half price!

hmm. lmao @ 38 long...
so... shall I be passing around the duct tape ladies? maybe extra strength to hold through the sweat?
seriously though... there needs to be a super cheap form of plastic surgery to pick the ladies back up so I can function without bras even around the house. and especially wearing a sports bra!
think I can lobby for it?

i took a quick break from a really bad work day to poke about these email threads, and laughed out loud at your reference to "the girls." Me too!
and Title 9 has the best selection of sports bras (esp for D and above) I've found

Who'd have thunk it, but somebody here recommended a sports bra at VS. Might not work for you endowed ladies, but for B'ish cup, it's fabulous. No underwire but good support and the cups are separated so you avoid the uniboob look. I got one, tried it for a couple of months and bought another. can't recall the exact name, but just ask the salespeople to show you their sports bras and you'll no doubt see it.

I have a different problem - I'm a 42B!! Not all the big girls have....big girls! Someone tell that to the bra manufacturers. Sports bras that fit my chest leave enough "pockets" for a cell phone PLUS a ham sandwich and a paperback novel. I don't often give my DH the "you don't know how lucky you are" speech, but I did last night after a bra-shopping marathon...and coming home with ONE! bra.

hmm. that's a good point too. but, look at the bright side, if you want to avoid sweat, they left you room to stick a washcloth in there too! (gotta be a silver lining, right?) I hadn't thought of that point. That would be frustrating.
My butt's like that. HUGE butt. Little waist. Jean shopping is an experience, cause I'm also 5'10".
I think that some of the things they come up with MUST be made by men. They have to be. They design things that they'd like to see women wear, because real women surely wouldn't think that although sports bras are comfy, that when you provide no support at all... it doesn't help the problem much.
But still, where would we shop? I don't want to shop at the 'odd women's clothing store' nor would anyone else. and online shopping when you're an odd fit is a no!
i guess we're just outta luck.

I'm a big fan of both the Moving Comfort Maia bra as well as the Enell bra. For cycling I don't usually bother with the Enell, but for running it was a must. The Moving Comfort works great for me for cycling. Haven't stored anything in there though -- it's already too full!

My beef about sports bras is why are they so darn small!?! I keep buying size Small since I am a pretty small gal (34B bra, 4 Petite in clothes, 104 lbs), and they are tight as all get out. I recently sold two on eBay because I could barely get them on, and I just ordered another one (Contessa di Roma, I believe) in a size 34 - and it's also TINY!
These are just the basic stretchy sports bras with racer-backs, nothing too fancy. I just don't understand why they don't cut them a little larger. I am a size Small in everything else, even an XS in some items, yet I must need a 36 or Medium sports bra. Why is that??

Hey try being 38 DDD - and even the XXXXXXXXlarge is still too small!

Emily-
cool thing about the Moving Comfort Fiona is that it's adjustable and has eye hooks in the back so you don't have to mamba your way into it. Sweet for those of us that are a little Frankensteined together and/or have no rythym whatsoever. :)

Hey Emily - good to hear its not just me. I ordered a bra online and when it arrived I must have looked a treat trying to get myself into the tiny thing.
I just assumed when you were a 34B thats what you should order, apparently not.

I wear a 40 D or DD (depending on the bra and the time of month). I've been buying Champion sports bras for the last three years - they're made in the USA. I may have to forgo my local manufacture ethos and get something a little more supportive than a compression style sports bra. There are several available that have real cups that look like good choices. If I get something new I'll report back on how it works out!
I've built tanks and tops with shelf bras in them, and I've made corsets - but I haven't ever tackled anything with cups so I don't think I"ll be trying to make my own any time soon....

Amazing timing on this topic, as I've been replenishing the sports bra stock! I'm a fan of Moving Comfort, but happened to be looking at the Champion website this afternoon, as I was curious to know more about the one I'd seen in (breast cancer) "Survivor Pink" at the store the other day.
Champion bras usually max out at a C-cup in stores, but their website offers sizes up to 46DD. Who knew?? And, bonus, all of their bras are on sale right now for $19.99. :)

Such good timing on this thread... the humor has made my day. Over the weekend I felt inspired to get some new lingerie, and was for the first time completely disappointed by Victoria's Secret. I'm a 36D/38C... roughly what I think some of their models are, or, at least, the minimum perceived chest size that VS is trying to help less-endowed women achieved with push-up & padded bras, etc. I'm not quite as well-endowed as some of you ladies, but big enough to have my chest be a factor when buying shirts of woven material.
According to the teenage salesgirl, those more trendy (sexy) new bra styles (not sports bras) don't even come in my size. Huh? They used to! Guess I've been shopping at Title9 and See Jane Run sports a lot lately. It's been awhile since I shopped for lace...
My fave sport bras:
The Moving Comfort "Cara" and "Mesh Underwire" bras, and the Champion Shape T-Back Sports Bra.

Finding the right sports bra was difficult for me too. I really like Champion's Double Dry Full Support Bra - it's supportive for DD's even without underwire.
Champion Double Dry Full Support Bra (http://www.championcatalog.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce/ExecMacro/product/product.d2w/report?style=CH1018&V=B)
It's on sale now for $19 - I'm going to buy a couple more.
