Isn't a Youtube web link good enough? I'm abit lost.. True, one can embed in blog software.

Every other forum I go to uses it, it's just a nifty way to eliminate clicking through to video. Most of them have a button on the bar to embed your video.

The code looks like, zlfKdbWwruY

and you get something like, ( if this were the actual embedded video, you could watch it without leaving the discussion)

I agree, embedding photos and videos is more attractive and more accessible than just posting a link that someone has to click on before they even have an idea of what it might be. I don't often do it, but I've wished for it here a couple of times, and I'm on a couple of other forums that use vBulletin software that allow it.

Would that take up significantly more server space? Perhaps that's why it's limited here since this is a free forum and all.

That, or maybe Jeff has been climbing mountains and racing triathlons and hasn't had time to make upgrades lately. ;)

all the other boards use the exact same software and are free, also.

Yeah, but they may be running on larger/faster servers, perhaps? I have no idea...just a guess. Like I said, it could easily just be that they haven't gotten around to adding the feature yet. Or maybe there are some legal implications?

I would suggest sending a PM to 'administrator' and asking. :)

Okay, I read the subject line and thought you had a problem with the inner tube in your tire.

Time for more caffeine...

My guess is that this is a women-focused forum. The administrator does not have complete control who registers to be member and post all sorts of stuff, including the possibility of inappropriate video clip links..that could be wiped out later by Adminstrator. If there wasn't a time lag before TE members saw it.

But that's asking too much.

Surely forum admins., etc. have to sleep too. Unless Sue has enough money to hire 24-hr. IT support for this onerous task of clean-up and monitoring.

I'm just grateful this forum exists....gratis/free for co-operating members.

I also thought this was a thread about inner tubes, until I re-read the title.
I guess You Tube is not something that is on my mind. I don't use it for anything.

I'm ok with clicking or ignoring a link.

+1 on clicking or ignoring a link. Don't want to complicate things for our gracious hosts!

I really prefer NOT to have non-work safe things just "show up." Most of what's here is fine (or well identified), but I could imagine unhappy situations with you tube and my office...

wow you gals take some giant leaps right into the gutter!

I have moderated several boards that have you tube embedding, and within the parameters of the particular board, things are on topic. I have never, in 10+ years of moderating various web locations had to pull a youtube vidieo, and that includes the women's lounge at a male dominated sports board. Who's to say I couldn't post a NSFW video now just as a link? Then you'd get a real surprise.

Whatever. Sorry I suggested it. I was thinking: bike videos, trails, techniques, humor, travel...

I'm not too demanding, especially if I'm using a free service all the time, like these boards.

I have a gut feeling TE forum members are insulated from alot of crap due to behind-the scenes work of staff who clean up electronic debris spam or trolls. We see bits and pieces of crap on the boards, then...it's gone..for us.

If the feature is offered, great. I guess. More meaningful, is the discussion here.

Yeah, ask Jeff. He's really helpful and replies quickly. (and thank you Jeff, for all you do!)

I also have a hard time making the leap from youtube embedding to inappropriate content. Bandwidth limitations, sure. But content would be the same as the links that are shared (and monitored) on the board today.

And yes, the admins for this board are great!

Why would embedded video be different (as far as content) from linked video?

I agree this forum is great and free, but I don't see any harm in asking about it.

Besides, the title made me think of inner tubes, which is a fun thought on a hot day.

Yes please!

If the BNA forum, MTBR & others can do it..why can't TE??

Please :o

Thank you :)

We have photo embedding - those could be NSFW too.

+1 on thanks to Jeff et al.!
