Anyone else ride today?
Hirakukibou and I met at 6 AM, to venture a little further west than our ride last week. When I left my house, it was 74 degrees and 72% humidity. So, while the heat is a teeny bit less, the humidity is worse. I didn't have enough sleep last night, so when the alarm went off at 5 AM, I was not spritely jumping out of bed.
We headed to west Acton, studiously avoiding all big hills. By the time we stopped at mile 13, I had drank all of my Gatorade (I ran out of Accelerade and bought some cheap stuff at the grocery store while waiting for my Performance order), so I bought another 20 oz. We headed to the border of Harvard/Stow/Boxborough, on quiet, shady roads. Since I knew that if we went further west, the ride would be close to 50 miles for me, we looped back, going just a slightly different route. I really hate this weather!
I sure didn't feel very peppy today and my average showed it! Although, when I was riding, I felt as if I was going fast. It really is nice to ride with someone who has a similar attitude toward riding and I am not always having to stop to wait for, or trying to keep up, with my tongue hanging out of my mouth! We parted ways at my street; my total ride was 31.6 miles, and Hirakikubou probably had about 8 miles left to get home.
Tomorrow we leave for a short weekend in the White Mountains. We probably won't get up there until around 3 PM and Saturday's forecast up there is 60% rain. Not sure if we will even take the bikes and maybe just try to get a hike in, if it's not thundering. It looks like the weather will be much nicer (cooler, less humid) by Sunday afternoon, so we will probably just drive home early and ride when we get back.

No time to ride today, but I rode last night though I only had an hour. Wed. is my night to go to my favorite park to practice intervals and hills - not enough time to drive out to the country and back. Hopefully one day I can live someplace that is safe to ride to the country.

Though my average speed always seems lower in this park I had a good ride and enjoyed the evening (I do find it confining after my country roads). Hot/humid, though it didn't seem quite as bad. Since I knew it was only for an hour I held off on using my last envelope of Perpetuam as I wait for my Accelerade shipment to arrive from Performance. Hoped it would arrive before Saturday but it doesn't look like it...

I saw deer though - and lots of them! In that hour I saw 4 adult does and six older fawns! Also saw a slightly older deer crossing the road with tiny antler budding forth :) Didn't see them all together, and perhaps I kept seeing the same deer in different places but they would have had to really run to keep up :)

I went out this morning for a 20-mile ride. My legs were soooooo heavy but it was a beautiful morning. The sun came up about halfway thru the ride and the sun was a big giant red ball. So pretty. The route is nearly flat out in corn country, but there are few small rolling hills closer to my house. I'm not far from Catrin here in Indianapolis. I am thinking I have seen Accelerade somewhere local.... Kroger maybe?

After many months off, I was approved for riding by my Orthopod yesterday... "but take it easy." Knee surgery is still a possibility. So I'm not approved for riding in traffic, or pelatons , or where the risk is high that I might crash.
Fortunately I have the Mississippi River levee, and the Tammany Trace Rails-to-Trails paths on the "approved list". Despite the hot and muggies, took the bike to the river levee and road 9.2 miles, average speed 15.8. I had a head wind downstream, and a tailwind on the ride back (that leg average speed was 18.4). Got to admit my knee didn't feel *right*, but it hung in there! :D

Of course I had to wear my TdF sunflower jersey for the occasion. :p

You are in Indianapolis? Cool!

Performance Bike (on the north side) does sell Accelerade but not the flavor I want - Mountain Berry. If you can remember where you saw it please let me know.

Good lord! I had my bike in the car today cuz I was gonna do the Nebo Ridge ride this evening and it got so hot my tire blew up in the car  REALLY glad I wasn't in there when that happened, I prolly would be in the hospital for either the heart attack I just had or the car wreck I caused when I jumped out the window.:p

Catrin - pretty sure the Vitamin Shop in Castleton carries that flavor; dunno if there's a vitamin shop on the west side?

Thirty-two uneventful but fast miles in the outdoor sauna before hitting the pool for a 2,300 yard swim. Pool was packed, unfortunately, so I ended up having to circle swim for a good portion of my swim. Then back to work after a much-too-short five-day R&R.
