I am torn between having a GPS and not having one. I see dh with his Garmin Forerunner 305 - he comes back from his ride or run, downloading his data, he can see where he's been, how many kms, etc., his heart rate, the works. But he cannot wear it as a watch, it's too big and the battery life isn't there. And I see him fiddling with it a lot more than I have to with my watch before we run together. I love my Polar FT60 - the display is nice and big, easy to use, has a Mon-Fri alarm for the morning which I love, keeps track of my training, can wear it as a watch, but I do sometimes yearn for a GPS. I looked at Polar's GPS and it is big and expensive and I would have to wear it on my arm and figure out a place to put it - and it would be about $200. I could buy a 305 for less than that, but then I would be working with two systems. But maybe that is not such a big deal.

One of my husband's complaints was that he could not wear his 305 as a watch. His birthday is coming up. I thought - maybe I can get him the 405 (Costco has it right now) and I can inherit his 305 to use for the GPS. I guess you can re-set them for another person?

Any thoughts?

Lots of good reviews (I think I posted this on another thread recently) on dcrainmaker.com (no connection, just found it useful). Lots of people don't like the bezel on the 405.
