I meant to announce this last week but just didn't get around to it: 3 months to the day after major back surgery (that would have been last Thursday) I went for a ride outside. 11.2 whole miles, finished in the rain. It's been and will continue to be a slow road back to my normal activity level and I'm surprised that I've already received the thumbs up to ride AND today the surgeon told me to try to run/walk a little bit (HE brought it up, not me)! I'm a little chicken on that one...maybe this coming weekend. Riding does hurt but I am going to have my bike re-fit (since I'm actually a fraction of an inch taller now :p ) so hopefully the painful readjustment period will be short. But, I can ride. Yippee, something other than walking and walking and walking and walking some more! :D

Yippee!!! Congratulations!
The injured reserve list is one-less. Just take it easy. Yeah, right.
Have fun in your new found freedom.

How great!! I was off my bike two years ago after a stroke...six months off it. The journey back to being fit and strong was really fun. Sometimes being OFF the bike makes one grateful to be back ON it!!

Oh excellent!! Staging a comeback can be a lot of fun. Don't push it too hard at first. (Not that I ever did that.)

Wonderful news, Yellow! :) :) I think you may be pleasantly surprised how well the body adapts to riding after being off for a bit. Enjoy a nice, soft ride.

Awwww thanks, ladies. I rode again yesterday and am really, really, really sore. LAZB (my bike) and I get our makeover on Friday. My ace bike fitter will do all he can to tweak things for the time being.
Taking it easy will be both easy and hard. Easy because I am so out of shape that a 45 minute ride slays me--I just can't ride very long. Hard in that EVERYTHING is hard right now. It's good for me, all of it! :)

Hey, that's awesome. I started riding shortly after a surgery, so I didn't really have before-after to compare. It was great for recovering and I was in better shape than I had been before the surgery.
