Okay Ladies--
About a year or more ago, I posted a video I did which resulted in a near complete flameout here. I was accused to being reverse sexist at the least and idiotic at the worst. It involved street photography and videography that I do for fun.
I have tough skin and figured I'd wait a while and see what the reaction is now. (Jobob, take heed. You LIKE me now, remember? :D )
Okay, here it is (http://www.delawarebikerides.com/2010/04/another-reason-why-i-love-newark.html).
I know I chuckled at the end. I usually find myself surprised at the things people on here get upset or insulted by, so maybe I'm not the best judge.

Thanks. I'm not looking for vindication, I just wanted to share it again. Who cares what happened a year ago. I'm getting mileage out of the video now as a video for Bicycle Advocacy in Newark, Delaware.

Amusing. Gently saracastic. I'm abit puzzled why it would have caused flameout. Would TE members ie. fall into a roaring fit if there was a parody/satire on ie. extreme cycling fashionistas? ;)
I did not witness the long-ago flameout discussion, so I am clueless on history.
:)

.... extreme cycling fashionistas? ;)
:)
What exactly IS an extreme cycling fashionista? I don't have a clue and have wondered that for some time.

Pardes, I honestly don't recall raising a stink about this.
If I did, I apologize.
If I didn't, then I guess I need to shake off the socked-in-the-gut-feeling I got when I read your post.

My attempt at humor doesn't always work. Sorry, it was said with great affection.
Here is a nonsequitor.....I just discovered what a marmoset looks like (http://dailysquee.com/2010/04/29/cute-baby-animals-surprised-by-his-own-squeeness/). UNBELIEVABLE. Cutest thing I've seen in a long time. Now I see why they were mentioned so often in 19th century novels as pets of refined ladies.

Yeah, I remember that flame war. I do not believe jobob was involved at all.
Pardes, your stuff is VERY cool. Keep it coming.

Ooohh - now I HAVE to see this. Pardes - you sure know how to get people interested. A little "this is really controversial" here, and dab of "please don't flame me" there.... :D I clicked on your link, to see what the fuss was about, but the video wouldn't play. Poo . Probably just my computer / slow connection. I hunted around here first, to see what was said, but couldn't find anything. Just my dark side poking its head out, looking for some controversy. Apparently I totally missed the entire thing.

Why?
I remember that unpleasantness, though I was not involved. It left some hurt/upset feelings, alienation and division, and a bad taste all around, for whatever reason. The TE administrators had to get involved to settle it. They were not happy about having to deal with it either.
Regardless of why the whole thing happened or who rightly or wrongly felt 'whatever' about it.... you are now asking for new 'reactions' so here's mine-
To be frank, I just don't see the point in visiting this anew. Is the video or incident important enough that the incident must be discussed again now with new members who don't even remember the history and are perhaps curious to learn more? What's your goal?
Just my two cents. :)

That's a cute little video--just watched it for the first time.

I thought it was kind of funny and cute as well. I missed the previous "incident" so I don't know what offended people, but for the record, and I really don't want to offend anyone with this, there is no such thing as reverse-sexism, sexism involves a system of power that systematically disadvantages a particular gender (hint, it's not the people in front of a barber shop). So to poke fun at men, even in a much crueler fashion than this would be mean and hurtful, unethical and immoral maybe, but not sexist. Sexism is a broad social condition, not an individual feeling.
I remember that and enjoyed the video. I had no problem with it.
(it wasn't me, I swear!)

It wasn't Jobob either. Truly it wasn't.
But it would be nice to just let the past be the past.

I think I am dense. I didn't get it. But I didn't think it was insulting. Just not particularly my style.
