Chamois fit issues -- do I just have a weird butt?

I have tried shorts from 3 different manufacturers and I am having the same issue with all of them, to varying degree.

My problem is that the widest, cushiest part of the chamois seems to hit me quite far behind my sit bones...so that my sit bones seem to land on the front edge of where the chamois starts to flare-out. Not only are my sit bones not cushioned, but the edges of the chamois kind of rub my tushie. No amount of yanking things up from the front works, since this pulls the rest of the short into an uncomfortable fit. I am VERY sway-backed with a bubble-butt, so I wonder if this is the problem...not the shorts, but the shape of my rear end. Hrm. :confused:

So are there certain brands/models that might work better for me? The Shebeest SSS short was the worst of the 3. I have a pair of Castellis that are a bit too small all around, so I'm not really wearing those until I lose 10#s. My PI Sugar shorts fit the best of the 3, but the chamois fit is still not ideal.

You could be rotating your pelvis back, when you should be 'tucking in your tail' a bit on the bike... When I do that, I feel more comfortable and supported on the saddle.

I've found that Pearl Isumi shorts have rather wide (and thick) padding. If it works with your body, only you could say but it may be worth trying.

I have the same problem, zoom-zoom. Unfortunately, I haven't found any shorts with a well-fitting chamois, so instead just look for ones without seams. I actually like the Shebeest shorts for that reason, and Gore. I rack this up to my freakish dimensions, like all my body parts are mismatched and came from the second hand bin. Oh well. :)

For the record, rotating my pelvis doesn't help, and it's not a problem of being uncomfortable while on the saddle -- the issue is with chamois placement in the shorts.

Exactly!!! I have Frankenbody. I have small wrists and relatively slim fingers, little shoulders and ribcage...HUGE boobs (I had reduction surgery a few years ago...34DDD was not conducive to living an active life), cankles, massive thighs, small hips and waist...I'm a freak.

I would do that, but I don't want to break my camera. I do have one from a few years back when I was visiting a friend in LA and we managed to lock ourselves out of her house. I was the smallest one, so I was voted to crawl through the one unlocked window...

That might work...any idea how wide the chamois is? I would wonder if a men's would be too narrow. I think my sit bones are ~145cm apart.

Try checking with the triathlon shops. They have these shorts with a removable chamois, after the bike for the run. I wanna say they slip into a sleeve. Maybe theres some adjustability with those.

Oh, that sounds interesting. Might be nice to find something like that for a duathlon I am planning to "du" next year, too. Thanks for that idea...that could prove very useful! :)
