Thank you all so much for being so friendly and helpful. I listened to everybody's advice and finally decided on a much better bike than I had intended to get. I feel great about it.

I've been riding around on a beach cruiser and wanted to upgrade to a new Trek 7200 hybrid, and after talking to you all I decided to go with a used road bike instead. I'm getting it on the 12th.

It's a 2006 Lemond Reno (here's a link to it - thanks Catriona! http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=2006&Brand=LeMond&Model=Reno+Women%27s&Type=bike) and I'm in love with it. It was all I could do to leave it behind until I have the $ to pick it up. I took it for a test drive and it's awesome. I've never been on a quality bike before and I can't believe how much fun it is to ride. Surprisingly, the saddle is a lot more comfortable than the big cushy saddle on my comfort bike, and I love the riding position. Going down the hills, it was so fast it scared me. I can't wait to get it home and ride it every day.

I'm also getting a helmet. :D

The only bad thing is I have to call that nice (and very cute) guy from the bike shop and tell him to pull the first bike out of layaway and put it back out on the floor. Poor guy won't be getting his commission. I actually feel guilty.

Congrats on finding your bike! That's awesome. Can't wait to hear more about your rides when you get it. :)

Don't feel too bad about him ~ you've got to get what's right for you. :)

You can go back and buy the helmet and everything else you'll discover you need from him.

Whoa, whoa, this is a good thing. Go back in person, tell him how you fallen in love with biking and have found the perfect bike (it just doesn't happen to be from his bike store), tell him you feel guilty and promise to come back and buy doodads. If he's anything of a bike guy he'll be happy, and you'll have a good time ;)

OK! Maybe I'll make LOTS of trips back in for doodads :D You know - it is a bike & ski shop, and my other passion is XC skiing. I need new boots and ski pants this year - maybe I'll just have to get them from him. ;)
