Thank you all so much for being so friendly and helpful. I listened to everybody's advice and finally decided on a much better bike than I had intended to get. I feel great about it.
I've been riding around on a beach cruiser and wanted to upgrade to a new Trek 7200 hybrid, and after talking to you all I decided to go with a used road bike instead. I'm getting it on the 12th.
It's a 2006 Lemond Reno (here's a link to it - thanks Catriona! http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=2006&Brand=LeMond&Model=Reno+Women%27s&Type=bike) and I'm in love with it. It was all I could do to leave it behind until I have the $ to pick it up. I took it for a test drive and it's awesome. I've never been on a quality bike before and I can't believe how much fun it is to ride. Surprisingly, the saddle is a lot more comfortable than the big cushy saddle on my comfort bike, and I love the riding position. Going down the hills, it was so fast it scared me. I can't wait to get it home and ride it every day.
I'm also getting a helmet. :D
The only bad thing is I have to call that nice (and very cute) guy from the bike shop and tell him to pull the first bike out of layaway and put it back out on the floor. Poor guy won't be getting his commission. I actually feel guilty.
