I have just put in an offer on a house, had a chat with the vendor yesterday who said she will accept it and take the property off the market, but there has been loads and loads of interest in it, so things could still go very pearshaped. Please, please, please keep your fingers crossed for me - I absolutely love that house, it's got my name all over it in invisible ink, and it's bang on budget!!!! If it falls through I'm going to cry!!!! :-(

Good luck TB!
Lots of the people who've been buying houses say that the bidding is quite competitive right now and that things often don't work out :(
Nonetheless, wishing you luck! :)
Let us know what happens!

I know, my mortgage advisor said 1 in 2 sales fall through at the moment, so I'm trying not to get my hopes up....

Wishing you the best! But if it doesn't work out, just remember that there are many other houses out there, especially now.
I had my heart set on a house last year at this time, and I got it. I wish I hadn't, though, because it needed/needs so much more work than I was led to believe by the inspection. Despite its constant drain on my energy and bank account, it's slowly coming along. By the time I'm ready to sell, it'll be a true gem. I hope.

Bit of a drift... but that's an example of why buyers should hire an independent inspector and not rely on the bank's inspector (who's being paid by an entity that has an interest in seeing the deal go through). We've never regretted hiring our independent inspector. We bought the house anyway, but he pointed out a lot of things that the bank's inspector missed.
Anyway best of luck TB; and Tulip, hoping your dream house comes together sooner than later!

Thanks, lesson learned. It's not my dream house, but it'll do for now. It's better than renting (I think ).

Here's to hoping this stays in your favor. I bought my first house 6 years ago so your feeling of excitement and anxiety is still fresh to me. Let us know!

Well, all the finger crossing must have helped - just had a call to say the offer has been accepted and the property is now off the market and no further viewings will take place! This being England, there is still a lot of things that could go wrong, but at least the first big hurdle is out of the way!!!! :D And yes, I'll definitely get my own survey done, no way I'm relying just on the lenders!

No, I'll save that for later - a two bedroom terrrace in a medium sized town will do for now! ;)

Here's to hoping the next stage goes as well as the first. Congrats on it getting taken off the market. Crossing fingers the inspection and everything else goes well. :)
