I'm looking to buy my first road bike (!!) and I found a 2005 Trek 1500 WSD. The woman wants $700 for it. It only has about 50 miles on it, as she has only used it a few times on her trainer inside. I realize it is like new, but think the value of it is more like $500-$600. What do you think? Here are the specs from Trek's archives:

Fork Bontrager Race

I was thinking in the $500-$600 range too.

Good luck!

I bought an '06 in '07 from a bike shop for $500. I'd go lower, too. For a little more than $700 you can have a brand new current model bike. But they don't make the 1000 anymore.

Oops, mine was a 1000, not a 1500. But still.

She's pretty much priced at about the right price from what I see on ebay.

The cheapest trek 1500 with 9 speed 105 sold for $561 + shipping - but it did not come with wheels - everything else sold in the $675-800 range:

I don't know where you live, but around here you can get $650 or whatever for a mostly unused bike with tiagra level components. The trek 1500 that you're looking at has 9 speed 105. HOwever, I'm in a crowded metropolitan area with lots of yuppies and maybe your local market has less people with money

I sold a 2004 trek 1500 in the fall for $850 - but it did have a spare wheel and a few other things.

If you can talk her down to $600 - great, but I think $500's too low.

This is great info! I'm thinking of parting with my '05 1500 and was wondering what a decent price point might be.

If you are parting with your 1500 and it's a 56, let me know! I just got fitted, and the one I was hoping to buy is a 54, I need a 56 WSD... Thanks for everyone's help! :)
