Ok, this doesn't make much sense to me, but I'm going to the Seattle bike show this weekend.
I resolve not to buy anything except for a coffee.
Really. I have plenty of jerseys, of which 2 of them I still haven't worn yet and several cycling jackets that I use depending on weather.
And I don't expect to pick up a desired set of panniers in an affordable price range at the bike show. Bike shows aren't good places for this sort of cycling gear. I'm pretty picky on my pannier style preferences.
Makes sense? :o

you can buy something! there's clearance areas, discount areas!
I'd like to get a pannier at a good price too. So far I've held out because they are ridiculously priced.
we'll see how we do, eh?

Too bad Team Estrogen isn't around at the show.
Or maybe she has been in the past.
Anyway it will be interesting to see if the gender split among attendees is more even...a good indicator of growing interest in cycling among women & girls.
15 years ago when I was manning (oops, a slip here :o) an information table for a women's cycling group for an equally large bike show in toronto, it looked like 40% or less females in attendance. Most definitely alot more guys at the time. The show had all sorts of things to appeal to a broad range of cycling levels and interests.

One of the years I went, it seemed like there were a lot of women there.
I can't go this year, alas. I have a lot of stuff going on Saturday/Saturday night and a race on Sunday.
If anyone's heard of MST3K or the latest incarnation, the gang will be at a video store this evening and then they are doing a live show Friday night and a live show Saturday night. Tomorrow night (friday) there is also a wonderful Pogues cover band playing at a local tavern in honor of St. Patricks Day.
Good luck with not buying anything :) I tend to be overcome by the discount tables and walk out with FAR more than I ever need.

If you don't want to buy something for yourself, I would be ok with it if you buy ME something.....
Just an idea :p

You'll buy something! Just wait and see. There are always some irresistable bargains. I don't get to go this year, but I have friends looking for something for me:).

That made me lol... well, what are helpful friends for then? HA...
OK.... IF you bought something make it an usual purchase/price/deal that you absolutely can not get anywhere/time else.
You could even take your own coffee in a travel mug if you really wanted too... just to be 'extra good' (I've done it before);).

I'll be there! At the Tractor, right? Are you planning on going? (Sorry, yes, totally off-topic.)

I'm thinking, if the rain holds off, of riding to the Expo. If I leave the panniers at home, all purchases will be limited to what fits in my pocket or can be bungeed to the rack. If the rain is more than a bit showery, all bets are off, and I'll be arriving in the Explorer. Anyone going to see Bob Roll on Friday night?

Surely you gotta spend. Sorry I am new and shouldn't have an opinion. http://www.hostimagehere.info/imgs/P/N.gif

That's a tactic.
Also since we don't have REI in Canada, I feel obligated to spend my annual REI dividend.

I know, Mimi. And I'm pretty sad to miss the show this year. Next year for sure. Hey--how about you and Raleighdon coming to CROC this year? Then we can certainly meet!
