Well DH approved the picking up of my b-day present early from the LBS today. (A 5k is hosted there this wknd and we were worried the shoes in my size might sell with so many ppl in the shop.)

After trying on shoe after shoe at three different shops I kept coming back to these, the best fit for me & with the three velcro straps I think they will be easier than the ratchet during tri season.

Anyway, they are specialized Elite Rd. Ta-dah!

Sorry the img is so large. :p

Congrats on your new shoes. I have a pair of their mtn shoes and they seem to work well. They are comfortable and breath with the mesh. Hope you happy feet too.

Nice shoes!! They look fast!

I'm in the market too..I just realized why my toes were having numbness problems on long rides... The shoes are at least a 1/2 size too small! Hey - I've been riding 3yrs now and I never knew your feet swelled after a while on a ride. Duh??

Nice! Good job on the hubby's part.

Specialized shoes just fit my feet. I have a pair of the Trivents for my road bike and mountain shoes for my commuter. I'd like to get their fancy-schmancy, high-end (for women) road shoe at some point.

Excellent! I found there is no "breaking in" period with Specialized shoes. :) I see how you photographed your new shoes quite artistically. Must be the graphic designer in you.

I just Love Specialized shoes. They seem to fit me so well. I have a carbon pair for the road, and a mtn. biking pair for the dirt. Enjoy your shoes

Striking! I like my Specialized mountain shoes and will consider them for the next road shoes if my Sidis ever wear out. DH switched and is very happy. The LBS guys say Specialized really kicks butt on their insoles.

Why would my lbs have told me that carbon is too stiff for a road bike?

You have some fine looking shoes there!

sounds like misinformation to me!
you want a stiff sole so your arch isn't doing all the work of pedaling.

Never knew that, I just wear regular trainers.

I only ride a mountain bike and never more than 20 miles, generally around 10 but saying that I am having probs with my feet.

I feel a new thread coming on.

PS How rude of me, yes Urlea, your new Specialized shoes look so good.

Urlea... Those are great looking!

Do they run on the narrow or wide side? No one up my way has them in stock and I'm thinking about making a Seattle trip to try some on. I have their mtn bike shoes and love them... It's what I use now for road riding, too. But I do want to move to real road shoes. My feet are wide, however, and women's road shoes I've tried are much too narrow. I may just move to a men's... no reason not to that I can think of!?

Cool! I love the pink Susan shoes they have on there too. I tried Specialized and could not get them to fit me right. Thus, a return. My Mavics I have now are full carbon soles... that feature rocks. No more flexy numb foot for me. What a wonderful b-day gift for you. Enjoy.:)

I have the same ones, with pink stitching, loved them from the get go! Now after a year, I still love them! One flaw on mine, they don't have the loop at the back, so I can't do triathlon transitions in them with the shoes on the bike cause no place to loop the rubber band through to hold them straight.

I have specialized road shoes as well. I swear I tried on every shoe at the LBS and the specialized ones were the last to try, and they were the only ones that fit right. I've had zero problems with mine, I just love them.

I have the exact same shoe, just in the mtn version in a size 43. They fit perfectly, and I have wide feet (by women's standards). By men's standards my feet aren't wide, so it's not necessary to buy shoes specifically catering to that, the stock 43s work just fine. Great fit, great ride, and they even look awesome.
