They busted a guy who was supposedly stealing high end bikes around Austin. Scary thing is he was either befriending people through facebook or casing their houses through Craigslist. He also had the nerve to be active on the racing scene and stole bikes from the owners of one of the ranches. And he apparently had a bit of a history doing the same in Arizona. Hang 'em high!

There have been some pretty colorful suggestions on the local mountain bike forum. What kills me is he was well known in the community and caught because he scammed a buddy. :( I am still not completely over getting my Huffy Colorwaves stolen in elementary school.

Ya know I've been really super busy, not training like I should. I need to get back on the mat and train for my next Aikido test. That'd be sandan, 3rd degree black belt.

If he has a '97 Trek 420 with the green to purple face paint job, Mavic Open Sup pro rims, Shimano Ultegra throughout and Flightdeck ...

Somebody hand me my sword ;)

Check out this Craigslist posting (http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/bik/1020924188.html). They have a video of the bike being stolen.

Hmmm... article says he has an outstanding warrant in "maricopa" AZ. Wonder if they mean the town, or the county?? If they mean the county, then they should bring him back here. Make him live in sherrif Joe's "Tent city" eating green baloney sandwhiches for a while!!

It sounds like he was active in Arizona before skipping town, you can look him up on USACycling and see he raced Crits back in AZ in 2006 (I think). The should make him wear pink boxers and live in a tent. That would be fitting. Rumor I hear is AZ won't expedite though.

Extradite? :)

Karen

That too, I am tired. I knew the word I wanted, just get asked to "expedite" things daily at work. I don't get orders to extradite anyone. :p

Extradite him expeditiously!

We could make him pull the pelaton the entire way. Or more like being chased down by mad cyclists.

So if he was a serial killer- or an "illegal" as Joe would say... He would extradite him in a hurry. With the mandatory news conference too of course!
sigh..... UGH....

He did have a really stupid looking picture being circulated which someone on the local mountain bike forum pointed a striking resemblance to Chevy Chase in. :p

Someone also got a little more philosophical and pointed out that he stole more than bikes, that now people are fearful at races. They used to leave their bikes sitting to go mingle, now the bikes have locks. He stole the carefree attitude that once hung around the races because they knew one of their own was stealing. Worst story I heard was he went on a few dates with a woman then 3 months after he ditched her with some bizarre story her Serotta went missing, he broke into her home with a crowbar taking only that and like others have mentioned on here when burgularized her sense of well being. What a punk.

I don't know, the USACycling shows Crits in AZ but the shop they were talking about him working at is a local tri shop so maybe? He showed up at both road and mountain events here, never heard anyone mention the tri scene other than the shop but the triathletes have their own board.
