So excited - my first ever road bike :) Went for the triple option in the end, here he is (yes, I think it's definitely a boy;)):

Congrats!

Wishing you many happy miles on your new steed!! I've never been disappointed with the triple on my road bikes -- hopefully you'll also be pleased with your gearing selection.

He's home!!! :) Brought him home on the train and it was chucking it down on the way from the train station, so I spent half an hour drying and polishing him cause it seemed terribly wrong letting a brand new bike get mucky...

Looking at the weather forecast, my chances of getting out on him for the next few days are minimal...hail, sleet and heavy rain - great!!!

Had ordered some slim shims of the web following a thread on this forum as I was struggling with the lever reach on the testride, and I wasn't sure if they would have them in. Good job I did - lbs had never even heard of them, but were very impressed and are going to order a whole load in on Monday. The difference they make is amazing, so thanks a lot for that tip!!!!

Will have to post some pics tomorrow of what he looks like in real life!!!

Yes, we can't wait to hear and see more!
How thrilling!

It 'always' seems that rotten weather starts the very day one picks up a new bike. It's a plague that follows most of us. I hurt my hip (not biking) after only a few miles on my new bike and couldn't ride it for 6 weeks! It was torture.

Glad you are getting those shims. :)

Took the picture from the wrong side :o, but you get the general idea...

Just have to wait for some dry weather now....

Congratulations - excellent choice. This is probably going to seem like a silly question but what is that tiny black wedge holding your bike up?

Hehe...a very basic door stopper, but works well to stop the bike falling over or rolling around - especially if the cat decides he wants to make friends with him! Still not been out, weather forecast looking worse rather than better, sniff!!! :(

Your bike looks very cool and fast. I have a trek 1000. I LOVE it. Mine is orange and white and most definitely a "girl". I named her Chrissie.

Thanks for all the nice comments!

Well, I managed to get him out for a couple of miles between hailstorms, etc. today (and yes, it was literally 2.5 miles :( ) But hey, here is the proof, slightly fuzzy and for some reason I look rather deformed due to the camera angle, but at least I've been out! Still terrified of braking and can't quite work out where the right gears are, but I suppose it will sink in eventually...

Deformed??- get out of town- you look GREAT!!! :p

Your fingers look cold though. :(

It took me a week or two to get the hang of my brifters/shifting when I switched from bar end shifters to new brifters. If my old brain cells can do it, you'll have it down in no time at all!

Looks wonderful- enjoy!! :)

You look just like me in that photo.
But taller and thinner.

I'm going to tell people that's me :p

Great photos of you and your bike, both! I'm having a chuckle here because I had my Trek Pilot for a year before I used all of the gears. I was using only the right-side gears, even up hills. Bike shops don't cover shifting when one buys a bike; at least my bike shop didn't. Once I learned I had a granny gear, I was delighted! :D

You're bad.

(now I'm tempted to do the same thing)

Tantrumbean- It just occurred to me that maybe you should have some lights or bright clothes somewhere so cars can see you on dark days? :o Remember reflectors don't help if car headlights are not on yet in the late afternoon. (Maybe a screaming yellow vest?, some blinkies front and back?)

Lol, thanks, I'm flattered!!!! :D

I do have lights, blinkies, high viz, etc, but this is only just round the corner from my house, so I knew I was going to be back before darkness. It was actually quite a bit lighter than it looks on that picture.

And no, the Charge saddle is on my mtb. This one still has the stock saddle on it, which, strangely enough doesn't appear too bad - will see how it feels on a longer ride....
