I just bought a new Terry Zero X saddle, the black one. If I did this correctly there should be a picture posted below.

I have the Terry Zero X saddle - the "metallic silver pearl" on my main road bike and have been completely happy with it. I recently (sort of) rebuilt my old Giant Cadex road bike to use as a commuter and a bike to take on crushed limestone trails and wanted to upgrade the saddle. I checked the Terry site a couple of days ago, saw the Zero X was on sale for $60 so ordered it in Black (to match the bike), got 2 day shipping (since it-saddle- was so cheap and I am so impatient:D), put it on today and rode with it. I was wearing my Terry shorts and expected the saddle to reduce slippage since as you will see (hopefully) with the picture below the "new carbon check textured leather helps hold you solidly in place" - and let me tell you that's an understatement!!

Seriously, every time I sat back down on the saddle after hammering up a hill I stuck - like glue. There is no ablility to slide around even a small amount. Plus, with the cover being so "super-glue-ish" it also tended to adhere to my thighs/shorts as I would ride - which really was a bigger problem.

Not sure what to do, I'm inclined to wait and see if it smooths out some because given enough time I know it will - they all do, but I think the return policy at Terry gives you just 30 days to return and not sure if that will be long enough to tell.

Has anyone here used the saddle in black (because the silver is smooth leather and doesn't do it) and if so, did it get better/smoother with time and use?

I had a zero X about two years ago that I liked. It wore out very quickly, got flat and hard and the cutout narrowed. After many unsuccessful trials I ordered another one about a month ago, on sale. I got the one you are talking about, black with the checkerboard pattern. OMG! Totally different from the first, more padded, narrower cutout and YES stuck to it like glue. I put it on the trainer for about ten miles and although comfy, got numb and could not move around at all. Now you and I know why its on sale. The one I used before did smooth out but it was a more smooth fabric from the beginning with little circles on it. The new one went back to Terry. I am now using a Specialized Ruby and am so far very happy with it.

Thanks for responding. After I posted I checked on this site and others and found a number of posts that said that Terry saddles tend to not hold up very well. Thus far my silver Zero has, but I think I will be returning the new one.

It's so hard to find a comfortable and supportive saddle, I'm not looking forward to doing that search again... I will check out the Specialized Ruby.
