I haven't heard "suitcase of courage" this tour. Has anybody else?

I've heard "depths of courage"
maybe they lost their luggage.

I haven't heard 'spot of bother' either. One of my favorites

LOL:D:D
I love these two guys.
The Tour would just seem wrong without them and all the great sayings.

I haven't watched much of the Tour this year, is it true Bobke is actually saying Tour de France properly? I prefer Ter Day France :p

I don't see "lumpy" which is a favorite Paul description or the "man with the hammer" which my husband loves to quote. I must print some out for tomorrow night's watching. :D

A new one I heard this year: "It's getting grippy!"

Hilarious! :D
I had to call DH in here so he could read them with me. Some I don't remember them saying, but we fast foward a lot on the DVR so I might miss some (who can spend 5 hours a day just watching the TDF? Sheesh).

that's my sister's fav too and she just noted that sunday. :)

I noticed one day during cyclism sundays, and then heard paul again sunday, say a word that we've always said was "pittsburghese", though my canadian mother said it too but she grew up in a town that in the 1800s was populated by pittsburgh steel workers. anywho - the word is "slippy" which is pittsburgh for slippery. i think my sister thought i imagined paul saying it, but then she heard him say it on sunday and we all cracked up.

The bingo cards are missing one of our other fave savings: "Call of nature."

My favorite is "oh the carnage"...when the pelaton is all broken up to a hard climb. I say that when I am climbing...

As for "call of nature"--I believe that have many other terms for that..."natural break" and somethign else.

Yep, tape teh tour to listen to Paul & Phil....can't stand the re-cap on prime time....Bobke is ok...but how is this Craig guy...he can't say anyone's name correctly!

I can't resist telling hubby that I'm in a spot of bother on nearly every ride. I don't think he's as amused as I am. :p

Oh, I have! He's made kind of a point of it.

Though, I loved his route description a few days ago all in Italian. He really got fired up. I wonder how much caffeine he drinks?

That's hysterical!

I spent much of the Death Ride "trying to get just that little bit more aerodynamic".....

I was so aware of all their little phrases last night... They called the chasing group "marauders" and said something about them being on a raid. They also kept talking about the "rarified air" at the high altitude.

They also kept talking about the "rarified air" at the high altitude.

How else would you describe it?
rarefy - to make rare, thin, porous, or less dense (Wester).

Trust me, the oxygen is pretty rare at 10,000 feet elevation, and gets more rare the higher you go :D

how about "front end of the main field"

..that seems to be one of the favorites.

My all-time favorite was from Paul during a mountain stage a few years ago: His legs are screaming, "Bridge to engine room: more power," but there...is...no...more.
