AG - would this have anything to do with wanting to party? :D

Latest email we received said:

Recruit at least 4 new team members by Midnight Monday and we’ll give your entire team a pass to our Team VIP Area at the Finish Line Party!!
I have no idea what this means but it sounds fun! Come hang out with us! I can still print up some more tattoos.

http://lb2.summitmg.com/nmssbike/assets/product_images/NMS0104.jpgI didn't see that! Hmmm, we're always needing more chairs as the driveway bike-cleaning/gin and tonic parties really get going during the summer. We really class up the neighborhood. :p

Uh, just thinking about this team photo thing. Do we need to do it before the ride? V is taking off to help Thom at the DMD. Are you 50-milers going to wait around for us 75-milers? Will you be there when we get there? The logistics are making my head hurt but a team picture would be wicked cool.

Another big question - do we put the tattoos on the right or left? Which side of the road will the photographer be on?

My very first organized ride is tomorrow - 50 miles (my first 50 miles too) to support the local YMCA. Our departure time is 7:30  (they Obviously didn't consult me about a more civilized start time when they set this up!) I picked it because A) it was one of the very Few things they do on a Sat here in ABQ and B) it was on the same day as the Top Hat. Since I"m an hour ahead of ya'll, I'll be on the road when you get started but I"ll be checking my clock for your start times and thinking of ya'll sort of in a "virtual ride" kinda way!

SadieKate
04-29-2005, 01:10 PM
Aww, I'm touched. Check in starts at 6:30 am and those of us riding the 75-miler can be on the road at 7 am. Half the team is driving down from the Sacramento area with a minimum 2 to 2 1/2 hr drive to get there. I'll do my best to keep the whining to a low level hum.

I'll probably take off pretty close to when I finish the ride. We need to be at our rest stop before 2. So it would be nice to do the photo before if we can. Or you can just leave an empty space for me. :D

I'm riding the 50, but I'm willing to get up early and be there before the 75ers head out. I'm staying in Pleasanton Friday night, so I don't have to get up too early. My hotel is only a few miles from the start.

My husband will be hanging around the hotel and wandering the streets of Pleasanton until I'm finished, so I won't be haning around too long after the ride.

Veronica

I'm doing the 50, but I'm going to sign in with 75s so I can get out early.

V.

SadieKate
04-29-2005, 02:17 PM
Veronica, if they won't let you out on the course you could tell them you're doing the 75 and then "change your mind" at the appropriate rest stop.

How about whoever gets there first is in charge of signing us up for the team photo? I emailed everyone my cell phone so you can call me and tell us where to go. All 8 of us from the east will be caravaning down together.

snapdragen

snapdragen reporting in. I'm in Dublin tonight, so I can get there early too. Just give me a time - I'll be there. The 75 milers are checking in at 6:30 - so how 'bout 6:45? AG? Capt'n jo?

If need be - we'll do a team photo with our own cameras :D so y'all don't have to hang around too long in the morning.

Tatoos....hmmm. Last time Winnerphoto was on both sides and the middle! So either or both legs should work. Add to tomorrow's list:
snap! Don't forget your tatoos!!!

aka_kim
04-29-2005, 04:22 PM
What's the decision on the tattoo? Left, right? Back of calf or side?

I tattooed my bike too! On the back of the seatpost. Looks much better than it will on my leg.

So, meet about 6:45 in the registration/team area? It's not usually very crowded in the a.m., most of those thousands (?) of riders seem to arrive later for the shorter routes. And usually, once you've got your route map you can start riding.

Melissa! Where you been girl? Thank you for everything!Ditto! Thank you and everyone else for your support and inspiration.

Last summer, approaching my 45th birthday, I was in the best shape I'd been in for several years when the diagnosis hit. Even though my symptoms are almost ghostlike, I was still devastated. I didn't know much about the disease or the treatments other than a lot of cyclists supported MS Society fundraisers and that exercise was beneficial. Well, here I am facing my first MS Society ride. I've done lots of organized century rides but this one is different. For one thing, V, Jo, Kim and Yellow have had me on this incredible hill training program and I think I'm in better shape than I was at the end of last summer. The other reason this ride is different is because I'll be surrounded by my new fast friends in both body and spirit. This has been an incredible journey and it is only the beginning.

Thank you all and best wishes to one and all wherever your wheels may take you.

SK

PS - I finally get to meet Snap and AG! Yahoo!

SK- Thank you for doing this wonderful ride. I am totally inspired by you! I wish I could be there in body, but I am definitely there in spirit. You go, girl!

I didn't realize that you had been diagnosed with MS. Dave's(my partner)sister has MS and she is really having a hard time getting around.

Your commitment to keep on going is just awesome to me. Thank you for your wonderful spirit. You are a gift to all women! :)

Good luck, good weather, and good riding Team Amici Veloci. $5000, I am so proud of each and every one of you and you All will be in my thoughts as we each do our rides. The ladies of this board were instrumental in convincing me I could do 50 miles, heck I could probably even do 100. Team Amici Veloci inspired me to try it!!
