Looks nice to me. Not a bad price either. Needs some cleaning and TLC. I'll bet it steel though, not alumimum. Take a magnet if you go look at it. Steel is a much smoother ride. Hope to see a "look what I got" picture soon.

I'm picking up another old mixte on Monday. They kinda get under your skin. :D bikerHen

Good thought on the magnet. It's one of those things I know, but would not have thought to do.

doh! the ad says its been sold.
I highly doubt its aluminum. It's from an era when all bikes were made of steel. The seller may just be looking at the silver color paint?

Bummer! :( Keep looking SouthernBelle. I've been haunting the local CL for months and the mixtes do pop up and I buy them. It's an addiction. :) I may beat out East Hill for the most Mixtes soon. bikerHen

the shop down the street from me has a teeny tiny mixte right now..... very tempting as my utility bike was stolen recently. I do not need another bike, I do not need another bike, I do not need another bike..... (especially not one that needs maintenance and hard to find parts....)

I was having visions of myself doing that copenhagen girlie thing on it. :D

I'm selling a mixte frame in about 2 weeks. I'll post here on TE first, of course. It's a 1979 Schwinn LeTour and it's too big for me...probably the equivalent to a 50 or 52cm frame?

Ooh, I think I have a blurry photo...let's see...

Sorry it's so blurry! This was taken with my camera phone with no flash. I'd misplaced my digital camera. I've since found it, so I'll take more (and better) photos when it goes up for sale. :)

Where's Sandra?? She's the mixte queen.

They are a kick to ride around town. But it seems riding a mixte put you into the sub-category of rider. I get a great deal of enjoyment from the "snubs" I get while riding my mixte(s). Ahh, if some riders could only mellow out and cruise . . .

On the other hand, the monthly cruiser ride, complete with a couple of beer stops, is a complete blast. :D bikerHen

She's probably working, not goofing off like us.

GLC1968, Its a good thing Portland is just a little too far. :p

I forgot about Sandra. Maybe I can be the West Coast mixte queen. I'll have three after I pick up the one on Monday. Although I'm getting the "you are going to sell one" hints from my husband. bikerHen

This is very true! 'Serious' cyclists give me a wide berth when I'm on the mixte because they assume I have no idea what I am doing. Very funny. They also assume that I'm slow...so they tend to get all competitive when they see that I'm right behind them still. :p

Of course, my guess is that this wouldn't be the case if my mixte didn't look like it belonged in the Wizard of Oz. ;) (dooda dooda doodoo...)

That was a Grand Touring. Those were nice steel bikes. Not really designed for long-distance loaded touring, but two steps up from Motobecane's cheapest 10-speed in the early 70s. Too bad you missed it.
