I didn't even know he was Canadian, but you learn something every day. Just posted this on bikejournal, on my July 1st ride:

He was giving a concert in Montreal a few days ago. I feel terrible I've missed that. :( I used to see him in my neighbourhood (near rue Marie-Anne, which inspired the song Marianne).

Oh no, uh-uh. It was inspired by his girlfriend of many years who he lived with on the Greek island Hydra - Marianne Jensen, who was Norwegian.

Now that's funny! He used to live on Marie-Anne. I guess Montrealers wanted to believe that version. :)
