so far, just purple oatmeal in a purple dish with a red cherry and a mint leave on top. Leaving in 10 minutes to walk through the blooming Rhodys at the Arboretum with younger son.

Oh what beautiful pictures! You are very lucky! :p :p :p

My older daughter and I took a five mile walk this morning, and then together we put up a new sturdy fence around my tomato patch.
Later I'll make dinner and we'll make popcorn and watch some movies. :p

Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms!
I got kicked out of the house this morning so the monkey's and husband could make a surprise.
Went out for a beautifull ride and came home to this! My 4-year old and 2 year old were crafty...a little help from Dad.

They even cleaned up the glitter! Yeah! Now they are out picking flowers. Nice to be the center of attention for a day!

SKnot came over to the apartment while I was in San Francisco and cleaned it. Wonderful mother's day present! :D

I woke up at 4 AM and did my first triathlon!! :) I actually finished (meaning I didn't stop to walk at all), so I'm super happy.

Later was coffee and free TCBY. Yum. Hubster is now making dinner, so all in all it has been a great day!

since we didn't have a women's ride today, I did my favorite ride: San Dimas Canyon. Forgot my camera, which was too bad, as there a gorgeous yucca inviting me to take its picture:o

My older son and his girlfriend came over at around 10:30 and we went to brunch at a local restaurant after about an hour. This place doesn't usually have brunch and it's a very casual place with great ribs, sandwiches, steaks, fish. My kids grew up going there a lot. The menu was excellent. I had blueberry pancakes and so did Josh. My husband and Ava had banana stuffed french toast, which was really good.
Josh gave me a really useful Burt's Bees "athletic" package, with road rash cream, soap, shampoo, lip balm. Ava made me a bracelet and earrings (she's an artist)
We left them here at the house and went off to ride with our friends, where we did a 21 mile hill ride (Oak Hill). It was really nice out. When we were descending a long hill, my other son called from Iraq, but Steve couldn't safely answer his phone. He had already called me Thursday night to wish me an early happy Mother's Day. I felt bad, but he left a message. When we got back to our friend's house, we started making tentative plans for a cycling trip in the late spring/summer 2009; maybe Sweden or Italy.

Hubby and daughter gave me some bike goodies (which is always great), then we loaded up and drove to KC to visit my mother in the hospital. Today is her birthday and Mother's day. Unfortunately, she had back surgery Friday. She turned 68 today so I fear her recovery will be slow but she's tough. The weather was cold and windy this morning but the afternoon was great, wish we could have ridden on the Katy trail today.

aw, how cute. Hey that's right, you live in the land of available slate!
Nice little garden spot too.

I do love that little slate walk!

I read the paper and watched CBS Sunday Morning, and hubby made me tea and oatmeal, my fav. Then we went to an Arkansas Razorbacks baseball game (we won!), and then watched the amateur's in the Joe Martin Stage Race (criterium part) after that. I ate a lot, too, anything I wanted.

My mid-son called me, but my oldest did not. He's at Ft. Leonard Wood, so I might see him today on his way back (his car is here). I spoke to my mother on the phone, too, and she was surprisingly pleasant and noncritical.

Mother's Day was very hectic at our house. I woke up early and made myself a big cuppa coffee and baked steel cut oats with blueberries and maple syrup--a special treat. DH and dd got up shortly after that. DH tried to get our 2yo dd to say "Happy Mother's Day," instead she went around singing "Happy mommy! Happy mommy!"--which made me happy :)

For some reason, I got the urge to have some birdhouses in our backyard, so that's what we did. We went to Lowe's to buy some cedar and paint and spent the weekend building bird houses. We made a slew of them and gave them as gifts to our moms, grandmothers, and great grandmother as well.

It was a nice weekend. I can't complain.
