Well, I finally decided to check out the website to see what it was all about. RunningMommy on here has talked about it... and my cousin was talking about it too.

I just shyed away from even looking because I figured the cost was going to be outrageous. I'm just a slow age grouper in tri's... and I figured I wasn't really worth a customized sports drink.

Since I started my IM training, I have had a struggle with getting in the right amount of carbs and calories per hour. My coach told me to hit around 260 calories and 40-60 grams of carbs. Trying to eat that much per hour has been a struggle.

So I checked out the website and created a drink with the right amount of carbs and calories for my IM training. It was easy and looks pretty cool.

I know I'm sounding like an info-mercial here... but I was actually surprised that I could order it so easily... and I paid $25 for a small. They said it has a 100% money back guarantee. So if I don't like the mix I made. I return it for a new one.

Anyone else using this stuff for their nutrition on the bike, etc.? I haven't gotten it yet, but I'm really excited about the idea of having liquid nutrition on the bike!

I've been using it for a while. I swear by it. It took me a few tries to get the right mix, but once I did it was worth every penny.

Ooh, I'd love to hear more about this, too. I've started experimenting with taking in calories since I've started riding longer. I found that gels are incredible hard for me to take in. They make me want to gag, I don't know if it's the sweetness of consistency but it's all I can do to get them down. Gatorade makes my stomach cramp and eLoad Heat Endurance is ok but not very tasty. Infinit is actually the same price as eLoad.

I love the idea of being able to dial down the flavoring with Infinit.

I swear by the stuff. My mix tastes kind of salty, but it's what my body needs.
What I like are all of the different pre made mixes they have as well. I use a custom blend on the bike, and the heat mix on the run.
I guess we'll see next weekend just how well it works.
Tho if I'd actually been DRINKING it last year I prolly would have finished! OY!

I just ordered a refill last week and requested they send me some cards. Whenever customers ask me what I use I ALWAYS tell them to try infinit. And I don't get a dime from them. But for me it's not about that.

Hope your blend works out. If not, keep trying. They should also be at the race, as they were last year.

Oh- and one last thing. They are a green company. If you save your old tub you can re-order your mix in a bag and they'll take a dollar off your order.

I love the idea of being able to dial down the flavoring with Infinit.

This is one of the things that I like best about it. Gatorade and all of those other drinks were just too sweet for me. With the Infinit, I can make the flavor less intense, although it does end up being a bit salty. But that's much easier to get used to than the sweetness.

The suggested amounts for my custom blend were right on for calories and electrolytes. The part that I had to play with was the protein concentrate. More protein makes it fizzier when it gets shaken up (like when you run) and it's can be a bit harder on the stomach. I started with 4gm/serving of protein. That was fine for the bike but way too much for the run. I'm now using 1.5gm protein for both. I think I may keep that for the bike and order a blend without protein for my runs.

Yeah roadie, I would go w/ two different blends. I do that. Heat mix on the run, custom w/more calories on the bike. But I don't add protein to either. My stomach can't take it. That's what is so cool about the custom blend.
I have to say, I think gatorade is EVIL. You might as well drink straight corn syrup! Seriously, if people paid any attention to the ingrediants on the bottle they would be horrified!
After the cavities I was getting on the SIDES of my teeth were attributed to using gatorade in training, I stopped drinking the junk. Funny, haven't had a cavity since...

K- I believe that the owners of the company will be at Ironman, so you should stop by and chat w/them. They are VERY cool people!

Does anyone like Shot Blox? I love them. They taste like chewy fruity candy. I have to drink lots of water with them but I like them a WHOLE lot better than any kind of Gu (ew) or beverage. I like the jelly beans things too.

That being said, I really don't take in much when I ride unless I skipped a meal and then it may be 100-150 calories total on a 1 1/2 - 3 hour ride...

KSH, you knew what you needed for calories, but how did you choose everything else?

(I love Shot Bloks, especially the CranRazz flavor. Also love Sport Beans)

Well, all I knew was calories and carbs.

I did start out taking their questionaire to let them dial in a formula for me. From there, I moved up the carbs and calories... and some of the sodium since I live in a warm weather climate.

Everything else was really just a guess. I figure I'll get the first batch and have to dial it in from there.

Yea, my coach told me that he does a formula for the bike and for the run. I don't see me using this on the run though, as I would have to find a way to carry it.

Go to the website and see if they ship it there. You can only order the stuff online.

I use to do a Shot Blocks and loved them. Unfortunately on runs they seemed to be doing not good stuff to me. So I had to stop using them.

Yea, Gu is too thick for my liking. Accel Gel is much thinner and I use that... or PowerGel. I also put the gels into a falsk and mix some water in to thin them out.

Than shot bloks IMO. Shot bloks were good, but too big and stuck to my teeth. The moons are smaller, not as sticky, and taste better. Plus they are made for us girls..
LOVE the pomegranite and watermelon flavors.

I have not tried Infinit and first I heard of it here. I use Accelerade...it is SWEET and foamy...but for long rides I definitely do not get as hungry or need "real food" when I ride with this. Obviously I do best with protein. As for the "gels"....I only like certain ones. But I had to share that the Gu Chocolate Outrage when "cold" or cool is like squeezing chocolate fugde or icing in your mouth! Yeah it is super sweet but now it is a like a "treat". Howerver, when warm (I do live in Florida) it is like melted chocolate...ok, still pretty yummy! Never thought I would think a gel or "gu" would be a treat--call me crazy!:):)

Hi Ladies, I am the boss over at INFINIT. Saw this pop up as a Google alert and thought I would throw in my 2c. :)

One, ladies are for what ever reason more sensitive to salt tastes then the men (maybe all the bacon we ate as kids, I dunno). I would recomend starting with your electrolyte levels in the 300-325 range. That will make it less salty, but should still have enough to eliminate salt pills. If you have issues with cramping bump it up tot he 350-375 range.

Flavor wise, to the right of middle is a perfect place to start. Our flavors are way less than most products to start with. We find that sweet and stong flavors are fine in transition, but way too much after you have been working our for a couple of hours. Orange is the most popular followed closely by LL, then FP.

Protein, a little goes a long way. level 2-3 (that is 2-3 grams) is enough to keep you from getting hungry. To me that is the biggest benefit, it should eliminate your need to eat solid food. Eating is a pain and I feel like crud for about a half hour after. Liquids are easier to digest no question.

Many of our clients have two formulas. One with protein and higher calories for training and also for the bike portion of a long race (>1/2 IM). A second with NO protein, 10-15% less calories and you can even throw in some caffeine. This works great for the run on your tri's and also any sprint racing or running races.

Obviously one of the cool things is that you can adjust calories to fit where you are in your training, and/or to manage your calories. It will taste the same and contain electrolyte, but just be lo-cal.

All of our stuff has no artificial flavors or colors. It's an all natural product.

Hope that helps. If you have any questions I will try an pop back or my e-mail address is attached to my INFINIT 1 account here. Just e-mail me. Glad to do it.

Hope you all are haveing a great spring.

Michael

I know this is an older thread but I have a question from you Infinit users. :o

I think I'm going to order some of this today. I tried to find nuun in my area but no such luck and I can't seem to order it in Canada. After my possible/odd hyponatremia after the breast cancer walk, my dislike of solids/gels/gatorade, and after being completely starving from spin class this morning, I think I should give this a go.

I'm not sure if being really hungry (ok, ravenous :D) after a hard workout (even though I ate a good sized meal w/ carb and protein and had shot blox before) means I should add a bit of protein in or not. Also, I'm not sure if I need to up the salt a bit since I seem to be sweating quite a bit (or maybe I'm feeling overly cautious after the walk). Or if I should just leave the values where the quiz puts them.:confused::confused:
