Hi ladies (and gentlemen),

My name is Jamie and I figured I'd take a second and officially introduce myself. I posted a few days ago about hubby being mad at me for not riding....yep that's me...wheww will be wording my posts more carefully next time...:D No seriously I do not hold any ill feelings against anyone, life is way too short for that!! You guys just did what you thought you had to do. So here's the story: I am 31 and have been married to an Army (hence the new username) guy for 13 yrs. I am a SAHM and have three beautiful children one of which has his own road bike and unlike his mom has completed a race. (when we were stationed in Hawaii) Hubby rides a Serotta CSI and I ride a Steelman.
I am extremely shy (almost hermitlike..lol) in person but quite chatty online. HOWEVER, I think you all got the wrong impression of our marriage..BELIEVE me I make my opinion very well known around here!! After 13 yrs we've learned to let the small stuff go...He was frustrated and so was I. I needed him to "feel" my pain and I felt like I needed him to hear another woman's opinion. You guys did that for me for the most part. When it comes to cycling I am totally green and do tend to lean on him for advice and kinda let him take over. Okay so that makes me a little bit of a pushover...:)BUT I am going to be more pro-active when it comes to the things I need and or want where cycling is concerned. I'll just have to live and learn/trial and error. I need to say THANKS to you all for the great advice and I hope to be posting here quite often.

Jamie

Welcome to TE, Jamie (and Jamie spouse). Ooooooh a Steelman and a Serotta, sweet. :D

Nice bikes! :D

This truly is the very best place in cyberspace for women athletes (and sometimes their men-folk). You are very much welcome here and ...

I think I speak for all of us please thank your DH for serving. :)

Welcome! Glad to see you here!

Yes, thank your DH for us. Many of us have loved ones in the military, and know how it is. There are a few men on TE who are in/were in the military, too.

Now, come join the party!

Hey, hey! Glad to see you back.

Wow, I wish I could have started with a Steelman way back when. How'd you manage that?

Welcome back, Jamie and, as another one who responded to your earlier post, I'm glad that you recognized that we each wanted to respond and help in our own way. I have found TE to be not only a caring, welcoming community, but a wealth of information for me too. Yes, there are a wide variety of personalities, opinions and experiences here, so hopefully that's what you'll find too. It's also a limitation of the written word sometimes that makes it difficult to understand and/or appreciate the different voices and expressions of so many, so I recommend that you assume the best that each one offers and not take offense. I know that I can try my best to write what I would better say in person, so that my communication has my inflections and feelings expressed more effectively, but I don't always hit the mark and then, need to rely on whomever is on the other end of the communication to ask me to explain better or differently or whatever, so that they understand my true meaning...nuff said...hope that you have mucho miles of happy riding ahead of you!

Roger that! The Chief and I are both retired Navy.

As others have mentioned, it's great to see that you decided to stick with TE and didn't let yourself be intimidated by the very vocal response to your initial questions. There's so much you can learn here, and if the response sometimes seems overwhelming, take it in the spirit in which it's intended--generally one of genuine concern.

Welcome aboard!!! :D
