Well boy howdy! The Dean called & said we can go home early! Campus (Delta State in Clevlenad MS- home of the Fighting Okra) is supposed to be open until Noon, but the Dean of our College called & said she will be here, so forward the phone to her & go home!

Let me stand up on a stump & say Yeah Leslie Griffin ! ! !

So, after posting a Warm wish to all you chicks & our couple of approved dudes- Mr. Silver, PscyclePath- I am going to Kroger to pick up my last fixin's

I plan to finish my thanksgiving celebration on Friday by going to LR to ride with pscyclepath if it's not too chilly for my thin blood.

I don't know if I willl have time to log back in later today- byt just in case anybody wants any of MY receipes- my home e-mail is pew@tecinfo.com

Happy Turkey Day to one and all! I'm getting ready to load my car and head to Chattanooga to join my sisters, their spouses and my parents for Thanksgiving. It will be a flying trip by all standards but I'm looking forward to be surrounded by those I love and those who love me. I wish one and all a joyous Thanksgiving and safe journeys to all who must travel.

We're heading to a small town in the mountains, with hiking shoes and bikes, just the two of us. Have a great weekend, everyone -- I'm hoping to be offline until Monday!

Chatanooga choo choo... won't you choo choo me home...

LOL
I grew up with that song - my Dad loved "big band" music...
Thats all I could hear as I read your post!

Of course, we don't do ThanksGiving here - but wishing all of you that do a wonderful family time (not at all like those movies where everything goes wrong!)
We do have wild turkeys all over the farm so I'll be letting them know how lucky they are that they live here ... or they might be finding their into numerous ovens!

:D Hub- I thought of you today... I seriously saw a Delta State "Fighting OKra" license plate frame on a car at Target. It made me laugh as I was fighting all the stress of the day because I remembered a little graphic you posted of the Fighting Okra. :D

We are headed to my parents tonight for Thanksgiving. Tomorrow at 4:00 am  we are heading to DISNEYWORLD!! I am such a kid, I just love Disneyworld. :D :D I am the youngest going on this trip- hehe!

Happy Thanksgiving TE!

Send red velvet cake.

Happy Thanksgiving ya'll too.

You can get red velvet cake at the country store on the corner by my house. The woman (she has to be 85 years old) whose family owns the store makes it every week and will make a whole one on request.

I should go get me some.

Southern Belle,
I tried to send you an entire layer of the cake- like a frisbee!
I had started icing the cake, myhusband called me into the den to hear a news story- I sat down for a 'minute'- we heard a splat. - I went back inthe kitchen & found that an wntire layer had skated off - the cake was still warm - the cream cheese frosting was melty & oozy- and zoom!

It is Devils Food Cake with red food coloring to make it a deep red. My husband had it as his groom's cake at our wedding- delicious!! And no, it wasn't an armadillo (if you saw Steel Magnolias you know what I am talking about).

I deeply appreciate all efforts to forward the R.V. cake.
Have you ever tried it with cherries?

To make up for your failures I had cheesecake. :p

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I just pulled the Angelfood cake out of the oven. We're not close to any of our family so we're doing a neighborhood meal next door. It should be great fun complete with some bike talk since my neighbor is one of those crazy cycling people. :p

I seemed doomed in my efforts to make this cake- the last time I tried 15 years ago- Just as pulled the mixer out of the batter I hit the start button - you can imagine the pink rain . . . now the frisbee thing- I think I'll stick to traditional chocoalte cakes & hummingbird cake-

Hope youe enjoyed the cheesecake.

How does red velvet cake incorporate cherries?
Sounds like blasphemy to me

Makes a nice topping, over the cream cheese icing of course.

Oh temptation! Turns out one of the neighbors that is moving is now going to Jamaica and there is a tour ride coming up in January there. It's nice to dream even if I won't be going. :o I had a nice T-day even though dh was absent most of the time and the dream of riding Jamaica is nice. The angelfood cake turned out brilliant in case anyone was curious. My first ever! :D

Congrats on the angel food cake! That's one of those things I cannot make - I've tried. They always fall and come out about an inch tall.

Our sweet potato contribution to the feast was lovely, however. Not much unhealthy stuff added, and I don't think anyone in the family missed it:D

DH absolutely loves turkey, so I roasted a turkey breast when we got home last night. So, we have leftover turkey too:)

SilverDaughter says to her Mom:

"I'm thankful that I don't have to hang around and eat your cooking"

We knew she didn't mean it...she snuck in later and chowed down:rolleyes:

We spent all day at home Thanksgiving and the next day with no sewer system--plus my two older sons and their S.O.s and my Terrificly-2 grandson, and various grandparents, cousins, et al, and FIVE DOGS who terrify my cats!

Chaos reigned supreme!

So I'm thankful my husband knows how to work on sewer pipes and had all the tools to do so, and that the hardware store was open on Friday so we could rent one of those heavy duty plumbing snakes, and that I didn't have to play a plumber!!
