anybody know where I can get a 24" front wheel? Like it to be a decent one, but it's for a home project, so don't want to plop down a lot of money that might end up going nowhere.
Harris Cyclery will build one, Peter White I think has them, but I can't find 24" wheels anywhere else.
New or used, doesn't matter.
thanks,

Stock wheels must be out there -some kid bikes take them. The wheels on my Conquest 24" are made by Alex - I'll take a look and see if I can find them!

I don't see them on Alex's web site, but I would hope that a bicycle shop could order them - what if a kid trashes a wheel, you have to be able to replace it. The ones on my bike are Alex DR-13's. You can also check out BMX supply stores - a lot of BMX bikes have 20" wheels, but some have 24" wheels too. Oh - and wheelchair wheels are often 24" too, but I think that they have a different kind of axle, so they likely would not work on a bicycle?

Thanks Eden,
I think I can get it from Harris Cyclery. I know Terry puts them on the front of a lot of their bikes. So, they have to be around. I've found some interesting potential tire choices, too.

There are several versions of 24" but the 24" that is on the front wheel of a terry bike or on an airnimal folding bike is called 520. These guys sell very nice wheelsets, and I think will split them up for you if you just need a front one.

Another possiblity is posting at the terry website in the for sale section.

Junior bikes are also built with 24" wheels, but I think they use a diff size, maybe 540, like wheelchair wheels, so be sure to get what you need. High performance tires for the 520 size are also available from calhoun (I like the schwalbe stelvio on my terry, and I also like the velocity uriel wheels).
