I just got back from an easy 13 mile ride. It's my rest week before my big tri on Sunday. Most of the ride I stayed at 17-19 mph. But on the way back I got into a groove and pushed it up to 21.5. Then, a little over a mile from home, I thought to myself, I have a few gears left, I wonder how high up I can go and stay on top of the spin . . . ?
I managed to get up to 26 mph and keep her there for an entire 1.25 miles! I struggled to keep my spin and would waiver between spinning and mashing. I'm sure I couldn't have held it for too much longer. But, what a thrill!
And, yes, I had a little tail wind help :) I remember when I started riding a few years ago and I was so thrilled because I had gotten up to 18 mph with a tail wind. I've come a long ways!
