I read all the great tabouli recipes and decided to give it a try. I went to Walmart - couldn't find it, finally found it at Meijers. I bought a box, going to give it a try - forgot to get a tomato though, I'll pick one of those up tomorrow. Thanks for the great recipes.

Oh Tabouli, one of my favorite. First time I tasted it was in college....not telling how long ago that was. But, I don't buy a box, I make it from scratch. Just soak the grains in boiling water for 20 minutes, while that is happening chop some cucumber, tomato, green onion, and I put a bit of feta in. Mix well with a couple of cans of garbanzo beans. Then mix the grains with the vegetables, throw in some lemon juice, virgin olive oil, lots of garlic, and some mint. Mix well, chill and a great tabouli will be your reward. I don't measure when making it, sorry. Just taste as you go.
Good luck.

Walmart is not a bastion of multi-culturalism... it can be tough to find some foods there.

What part of Michigan are you in? There are some groovy grocery stores in Lansing and Ann Arbor.

I'm fortunate that tabbouleh grains are quite easy to get a hold of here and I really like it but I just had to google for garbanzobeans, I knew they'd be called something different over here and they are - chick peas, I love chick peas. I've not had any for quite a while....

oooooh tabbouleh, yum. Home made, from a box .... I love it all. Also anything garbanzo. Many places have it here, of course TJ's and smaller places I would go but even the major stores ie Safeway, Albertsons ...

there's a little market near me that specializes in Middle East foods. I like the market and the food selection but the owner kinda creeps me out, he kinda leers. But if I want to get everything with the tabbouleh, halvah, baklavah, stuffed grape leaves in one stop....

I've never been inside a Wally-world and have no intention of doing so. :p ;)

KnottedYet - do you live in Michigan? I'm in Bay City.

LeslieJo - what grain is Toubli? I saw some different grains at Meijers, but didn't read them, just went for box of Toubli.

Yes, Walmart is definitely lacking - not only with their food.
