I had always been puzzled by this idea of water weight. Like, how do I lose it? If I drink a lot of water, does that mean I'll gain weight? They probably seem silly, but thats what was going through my head.
I found this really interesting website that gave some really interesting advice. It's through Brigham and Women's Hospital here in Boston and has a lot of other very interesting info on weight loss and healthy lifestyles that I thought some of you would find interesting.

Why would you bother with water weight?
to get rid of it just lower your salt intake and pee.

That wasn't really the point of my post. What I said was I was wondering what water weight was, googled and found an interesting website that I thought others would find informative. Sheesh...

I've never thought of one particular idea noted
"Do set a water goal - divide your weight by 2 for the number of ounces of water you need each day."
Í just seem to stick to drinking 1.5l of water at work or more esp with the weather of late..

Our bodies are mostly water, that is that water serves as the liquid for "stuff to happen" as in to make blood, sweat, tears etc...
water is also stored along with muscle glycogen (ie carbs) in our muscles for use later. So when someone goes on a restricted calorie diet, their body starts to use up stored glycogen for energy, but there isn't enough to put it back, so you end up losing water at the same time.
alternatively, when someone carbo-loads, they start off by depleting their carb stores first, then when they re-introduce carbs back in, their body compensates from the loss before by storing a bit more "just in case". so often someone who carbo loads will gain a bit of weight (sometimes 4-5 pounds) because carbs are stored with water.
