How's everybody doing and dealing post-Thanksgiving?

I lost 3.25 pounds in two weeks (we didn't have an official weigh-in last week). This is super astonishing to me because at my gym's scale, I had gained 6 pounds last week. Go figure. I've lost 22.75 pounds total. :D

Yay OTG - Way to GO!!! I am SO glad your scale was wrong at the gym :D

I have been all over the map since I was sick. But in the end, I lost about a half pound last week which is ok with me because A: it's the right direction, and B: I had a few bad days, went out for dinner one night, and didn't do much riding. On the positive side, I did start my strength program FINALLY and I got my bike on the trainer and have put in 115 minutes so far so I feel good about that. I have 3 more pounds to lose by Jan 1 and 8 more to lsoe by April 1. I'm actually hoping to lose it before then but I find I do better if I make small goals and then coast for awhile and then work at it again. I am more concerned with getting the loose, flabby skin into shape now. If all goes well, I will have lost 25 lbs in one year.

Hi there...
Can anyone join the weigh-in threads? I lost 40 lbs from last Oct through March. Haven't lost any since then (in fact gained about 10 lbs) and am getting back to losing again. I would like to lose another 50-60 lbs over the next year.
What do you all do to help your weight loss? Are you on an organized plan or just eating healthy and exercising? I follow Weight Watchers and exercise.
Hopefully I'll have a loss to report next week.

Nice to meet you!

Welcome GypseyAngel! Way to go losing 40 lbs! I am so impressed with you gals who lose so much. WW is a pretty good way to go for a lot of people. I use sparkpeople although I know not everyone likes it, it sure works for me. My preferred form of exercise is biking but I am trying to incorporate weights at home now too. Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome, kelownagirl. The 40 lbs I lost was over last winter and as it has started creeping back on again I need to stop it. Plus as I said I still have another 50 to go.
My favorite exercise has become cycling. Last winter I did a spin class and weights.
I'm a firm believer in doing whatever plan works best for you. I can't knock anyone elses food choices or diet plan if it works for them. We are all different and what works for me may not work for everyone. I'm not familiar with sparkpeople but I'm going to look it up out of curiosity.

Best of luck to you!

Congrats OTG and Gypsy Girl. :D I have lost all the weight I plan to lose. I do not have any desirte to go any lower. My size 6s look fine to me. I am merely focusing on maintaining and hopefully building more lean muscle. I have been maintaining for 3/4 of a year now. It is wonderful, With all I burn off, I need to consume about 2200 calories. :)

Gypsy,

You are more than welcome! We defintely need more people to weigh-in. :)

Congrats on the loss! That's great. But get back at it so that you don't keep sliding back to where you were. The only thing worse than gaining back 10 pounds is gaining 11, then 12. You can do this, girl! And we're all here for you.

I still need to lose something like 80 pounds, and if I am able to do that I'll still be considered an athena. :( So I definitely know how it is when you have so far to go. It's tough sometimes to avoid getting discouraged and at times it's scary. But I try to just focus on getting to the next week. :)

I personally am tracking my calories and exercise and striving for 55% carbs, 20-25% fat and 20-25% protein. In the spring when the season starts, I'll probably go for 60-20-20.

I also attend T.O.P.S. (http://www.tops.org/) meetings, which are the nonprofit version of Weight Watchers. Oh, and I exercise 6 days/week for a total of about 8-9 hours/week and am working with a personal trainer who is a cyclist.

I am SO glad your scale was wrong at the gym
That scale was dead on -- I had a weeklong bingefest. :o But it was that time of the month, so some may have been water weight, etc. In any case, I'm glad that's over.

Bikingmomof3... congrats on losing the weight you want to lose! I can't wait to be able to say that!

Offthegrid... You are absolutely right about stopping the backslide of weight re-gain. I've been there before and one pound leads to 2 which leads to 10 and 12, etc. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I know the overwhelming feeling of "so much more to go" but as you said... one week at a time!

Good luck everyone! Nice to meet you all!

Hey guys! Mind if I join your check-in too?

I'm starting a new program this month and an whole new way of thinking about my body (or at least, that's the goal!).

My history in a nutshell - I've basically spent my 30's losing and regaining the same 35 lbs or so. My lowest was about 132 ish...and my highest was 168. Today I'm in the mid-150's (I've gained 15 lbs since picking up biking! ). I've always been very active but I also LOVE to eat. I have some serious self-image issues that I need to work though as well. :( I've never been 'thin' and I don't expect to be. I'm muscular and I like that about myself, but I'm also carrying too much excess fat for my liking.

I will be working with a trainer who has both an endurance athlete and a bodybuilding background, so hopefully she will help me find the balance between the two (which is where I want to be).

I typically workout about 300 to 600 vigorous minutes a week. Lately it's been 95% biking, but in the past, I was very into weight training. My goal is to get the balance closer to 70% biking/cardio and 30% weight training for the 'off' season. Come spring, that'll likely shift a bit.

Nutritionally, I've been successful with a 40% carb,40% protien and 20% fat ratio...but that was prior to biking. I don't yet know what types of ratios my new coach/trainer will set up for me. I've had a very difficult time determining what my calorie intake should be, and that's one of the main reasons I've hired this woman. She's a gem and I can't wait to get started with her!!

I guess that's about it...oh, except for my goals... My plan is to drop 20 lbs of fat before next June when I plan to complete my first mountain century.

Hopefully it won't be long before I'll feel worthy of checking in with all you successful weight losers! :D

Awesome goals GLC! :D You can and will succeed! Let us know how your training is progressing. :) We can be our own worst critics. Please check in as often as you can. I too am continuing to build more muscle. I love my late 30s!
