    Mt. Massive climb

My husband, son, and I climbed Mt. Massive in Colorado last Friday. Have any of you done that one? My husband and I couldn't hardly walk for 2 days we were so sore! This is our second 14'er and our sons fourth. We are doing a century ride this Saturday. We were afraid we would still be sore, but we rode 22 miles yesterday and it felt good! So I think we are ready to go. We are doing the Hotter N' Hell Hundred in Wichita Falls, Tx on Aug. 26.

I've done Mt. Elbert, right next door!

I used to only hike, and never had any real soreness issues. What I've noticed is that since I started biking, my calf muscles are really tight, and VERY sore after I hike. Seems like biking shortens the muscle, while it needs to over-extend for hiking uphill. Whenever someone who bikes starts talking about a hiking trip, I advise them to start stretching those calves immediately.
