Oh no! This is right near my hometown, one of the officers was airlifted to the hospital where I was born. And I'd been in Covington a number of times... I will ask my parents if they heard about it. I'm sure they did.

To think they were riding for other families who'd lost loved ones in the line of duty... so very sad.

There is a web site, www.odmp.org where the public can leave condolences for police officers lost in the line of duty. They don't appear to be listed there as this was not a line of duty death, but it sure seems like they could be in spirit. Anyway, in lieu of that, I am sure sending a note to the police departments affected would be very meaningful to the families.

The accident also didn't make the alert map ("crisis du jour") website http://visz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/usa_alert.php?lang=eng )... something about it being via bicycle that makes it not as relevant.

Thanks for those links. I'm in ILlinois - it's close
