I was wondering if anyone has done the King of the Quabbin Double Metric Century in Massachusetts? I'm planning on it this June and wanted any information or tips or warnings you can provide! Thank you!

Nah, if I can get up it, anyone can. I just wouldn't want to do it at the end of the 100.

Kings Tour Quabbin - some old scoop

I know its really hilly, but sounds like you are up to it. I did a shorter ride they used to have on this a few years ago, and I can't tell you that much about the route, but the crowd was (to me) very hardcore. I don't remember seeing many women, and there were lots of Serottas and stuff.

Personally I did not like this crowd but they were okay. I remember one guy said something snotty to me about my fatty old hybrid bike I was riding. I rode the thing alone (only about 25 miles).

Since then they have elimiated the "family" ride.

The food was hardly anything; the post ride was salmon, which I hate, so I went home. It was a very beautiful day, (it used to be in the fall) and the colors were great.

Have a great time, I wish I was in shape enough to do it! maybe next year!

thanks for the beta! i dont have patience for snotty cyclists - so i will be prepared to ignore them. That was one thing about the Death Valley Century that was so great - everyone was fantastic. I actually found out about this forum from a woman i met on the ride. it was an amazing experience.
I'll let you know how it goes. its my last big ride of the summer before I get my eyesight corrected with lasik surgery *panic* so I am looking forward to it!
