Plank pose and push-ups during Sun Salutations. I couldn't bear my body weight on my left wrist. I know what you mean. I strive for an absolutely still upper body and hips.

Ok, SK I will go to photobucket!! And you should give yoga another try. Maybe there are poses that won't stress the wrist??
I can feel it almost immediately when I don't do core work - my back starts kiling me on climbs. This was especially true after my Nov. crash - but I seem to have re-habbed myself being more diligent. I have to force myself to do the core work, but it is the most valuable 1/2 hour a week for my back (about 15 minutes 2 x a week is all I can stand). My riding partner who does Pilates is amazing. Her upper body is almost motionless on the bike - she's like a dressage rider. All that moves are her legs.

Scary, huh? There's always someone faster, and sometimes they're just astonishing. Apparently, Bill had some "issues" that added to his overall time.Originally Posted by Veronica

Veronica- Bill had a few mishaps on the ride which is why his "official" time is 14hrs. (I emailed him when I got home as he hadn't checked in at the hotel so I knew he was out on the course somewhere).

For total time I put whatever my HRM says. Usually that's total time including stops.
I wasn't criticizing how Bill chooses to record in his journal, just commenting on how the official time got posted. It's a long ride, lots can wrong. Did I tell ya all about my rear wheel coming off?

Yeah - and that's absolutely horrifying!!! It's lucky you're okay and that the bike's okay, too. Did you figure out what's up with the brakes??Originally Posted by Veronica

The weird thing is, I usually stand for a bit after Devil's Elbow, doing a kind of easy standing spin before the final push up to the summit. On Saturday the rear end felt squirrely when I did that. At the time I figured it was just the wind. But after I wondered if somehow my rear quick release had come loose and what really happened was the rear wheel came off and that pushed the chain in.
I haven't looked at the brakes yet. Yesterday was eat and sleep day. Today was do the groceries and cook something for the rest of the week.
Tomorrow is get back into the groove of riding. So, I'll be dealing with it later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Something I forgot to put in my write up... I passed a motorcycle on the descent from Morgan Territory. That's the third one I've passed.

Veronica, you are amazing. I just read all this. Wow. Great work, amazing obstacles. I think "falling down in a heap" pretty much signals the end of any ride. Thanks for posting the story and great pictures. L.
