Dredging up this long-slumbering thread to share a picture of some rather unexpected animals seen on the way home from last weekends hiking trip to southern Indiana. Pity I couldn't get a better frontal shot

Camels, wow! We saw llamas and vicunas in eastern Washington (there were a couple of farms on our frequent routes), but never a camel!

We also have a local farm with reindeer, but not in the same area as the camels.

Cool Catrin! Were you hiking at Yellowwood? (I see Camels on the way to there, so wondered if we were in the same place :-))

I don't know what route you take to Yellowwood, but this was on a north/south route back to Indy from Brown County State Park in central Johnson County. There was a sale sign for this farm, they also had horses.

We must have lots of camels in Indiana! I see at least one on SR 46 between Nashville and Bloomington! I'm seeing a lot more llamas on my bike routes too, but I've only seen a camel in the one place. I bike through Johnson County quite a lot -- I'm going to keep an eye out for these too.

I know you are suppose to share the trail, but I decided the snapping turtle could have the trail all to himself!

There was a fawn, too, but I just couldn't find her/him. The Momma did pose for me though.

Both photos were taken with my cheap little point and shoot that's been dropped a few times so I apologize for quality.
