NWG, Thanks for the pictures. It all looks lovely. Must admit I'd be scared to ride out on the lake. We have a similar issue here in the sunny PNW where if it does not rain often folks get a little cranky. It does snow but not often. So when it does we kinda flip out! OMG, what do I do, how do I drive ...

Spent one winter in Portland, Or.

Saw the same thing. Had 2" of snow, one day, and people were freaking out, doing the 5 mph thing on the Interstate. Got a bit of a chuckle out of it, but felt sorry for those folks, more than anything. I can see where it might be terrifying for someone who has never driven in the snow.

I've rarely driven in snow. Last winter suddenly realized that my car, which I love, a 2012 Honda Fit, will not make it from a start up a hill in snow. It's just not happening.

And we live at the bottom of a slight hill.

So the first time it snowed at our new home I was stuck. Could not get to work. Knott had already left just going lalalalala all the way to work in her Subaru Crosscheck with AWB and her wealth of snow driving experience. And I was stuck.

Once it gets going in snow or whatever the Fit is fine. It's just probably too light for snow on hills. And the standard tires, which I've since replaced are notoriously not great in snow. So I learned if it's snowing or forecast to snow, to park in the lot at street level.

But should be no more problems. I retire on March 1st.
