Check into Trek. Their R & D for smaller women is very good. You should be able to find a bike with 105 components for that. But petite is a range under 5'4". A 4'10" rider will have a harder time finding something that fits. How tall is the rider?
So long as the wheels are still turning, life is good.

I've had 5 road bikes. The 2 that fit me the best are Treks. I am 5 ft. .5 inches, and generally have petite proportions all around. Just about any 47 cm Trek I've tested has fit like a glove, with little modification. Specialize also has some good models, but I believe their sizing system is a bit different.

I can also add a vote for Trek's 47 cm WSD bikes. I did have to add a stem extension to my Pilot, as I have an old injury that prevents me from bending over as far as the typical cyclist, but other than that, this bike fits me great! I am a pinch taller than Crankin at 5'1.5".
