    Hi from the north woods

Hi from the Wisconsin north woods. I'm Joanie and I've been a hardcore "bike head" all my life (in my 60s, now). A bicycle has been my only means of transport several times in my life, though my husband and I now have a car, too. I have experience with road, cyclocross, 26" mountain, 29er mountain, cross bikes and, just recently, added a fat bike. With our long winters, most of my winter riding in the past has been indoors on the trainer. Picked up a fat bike, though, this spring, still in time to ride in the snow, so, "Yippee! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow." Can't wait to pedal out on our lake next winter after ice up.

Anyway, I've actually been registered, here, for a couple years, but for some reason, never got a notice that I was added to the forum. I'm here, now, though, so looking forward to reading and sharing.

Welcome Joanie! You live in a beautiful part of the country -- what a neat spot to fat bike! We briefly lived in Richland Center in your beautiful state but have not been back for many years. Looking forward to hearing more from you in the forum.

    Thanks, Emily.

For sure, this is great MB and fat bike country, but it's also great road bike country. Lots of paved highway/county roads with next to nothing for traffic, all winding though beautiful lake and forest country. During the summer, we only hit 90 once or twice and some summers, never. Come on up.

Hi Joanie. I lived in Chicago some years back but never had the chance to explore Wisconsin. Though I did once celebrate Cheese Days in Monroe.

I have a few friends who travel to different parts of the country on bike tours every year -- I will ask them if they've ever been up your way. It sounds delightful!

    - Gray 2010 carbon WSD road bike, Rivet Independence saddle
    - Red hardtail 26" aluminum mountain bike, Bontrager Evoke WSD saddle
    - Royal blue 2018 aluminum gravel bike, Rivet Pearl saddle

    Gone but not forgotten:
    - Silver 2003 aluminum road bike
    - Two awesome worn out Juliana saddles

    Thanks for the welcome!

I lived and biked in the Chicago suburbs for 6 years, 2004 though 2010. All my roadie friends, down there, would pay big bucks for the road biking we have, up here. In spite of the nasty traffic and aggressive drivers, really an excellent bicycling community, down there. Miss it, sometimes, but, then, the biking community has always been something I really appreciate about biking.
