My Dachshund love to be taken for bike rides. I've tried a couple of carriers and found a new one that looks promising. The photo is from the Mayfair website.

Is this COOL or what? Imagine my 6 lb Dachshund, Rosary, doing GPS navigation with me on the bike. It's her Christmas present to me.

This is Rosary as a puppy who has waited patiently for a ride. She's feisty and extremely opinionated so her first ride ought to be interesting. My older Dachshund, Zoe, is a veteran bike rider. She literally flips out when I take her out to the garage and she sees the bike.

Does anyone else ride with their dog? Isn't it great? What experiences have you had?

Below is a link for the dog bike basket.

    What a cutie!

I know someone who brought her dog to a fundraising ride a few years ago. Everyone noticed and remembered "that lady who had the dog in the basket."

    - Gray 2010 carbon WSD road bike, Rivet Independence saddle
    - Red hardtail 26" aluminum mountain bike, Bontrager Evoke WSD saddle
    - Royal blue 2018 aluminum gravel bike, Rivet Pearl saddle

    Gone but not forgotten:
    - Silver 2003 aluminum road bike
    - Two awesome worn out Juliana saddles

What a cute dog! I see people riding with dogs all the time. Had a guy zoom past me on the STP with a large retriever type dog in a trailer, and I'm assuming he must have been in extraordinary shape to haul a 60-80 pound dog in a 30-50 pound trailer (I was going along at what I considered to be a good clip, and he totally smoked me).

I forgot to take into account that the above basket has soft sides and antsy Rosary will collapse the sides so I'm opting for a metal basket instead that is more secure.

That's so cool, Pardes. Our dog weighs a bit too much for a front basket, but we've thought for years about a rear cargo trailer. Just haven't pulled the trigger since we're nomadic, and we travel to many places that wouldn't be safe or good for using it (plus it's just one more thing to have to take with us). But maybe one day. I suspect she'd love to come along on some of our rides.

Good memory! That was a very make-shift thing to take her to/from the kennel. It is just her soft-side carrier for flying (Sturdibag brand) bungeed onto my DH's back rack. Kinda stressful for her as she can't see where we're going, and there's not much room to move about. I think she'd love riding in a trailer where she could look forward and have room to change position more easily.

That's adorable, Sheila! I would still want a trailer for Paisley for shade, but this is a great way for them to be able to see what's going on around them too.

I love those! On my wish list for someday...when we have room to carry it along with us on our travels.
