    Epic derails ...

I'm one of the main coordinators for an annual bike get together in the mountain of central ID from an internet bike club I am in.

I've sort of been in charge of some of the trail selection because I have GPS and mapping software. So I picked this one, portions of it are in bike guides, it sounds awesome: 3 miles up, 6 miles along the ridge, then 4 miles down to the hotsprings.

A local who will join us pre-road it.

This trail starts at 6400' elv on gently climbing fire roads for three miles. every where you look are incredible views, lush green foliage every where, a cute squirrel chirps in the tree. Unfortunately none of you will ever see it because when the fire road ended and the trail began this became one of the biggest epics I have ever been on. in the first mile of trail I had 12 dismounts 7 for technicals 5 for lungs then it got hard! I will embellish on this when you all get to town along with all the way I have planned to barbecue Penny ( Irulan) for sending me up there. CDB the climbs were 2-3 x harder and technical than the last 2 miles up the ski area and the descents were far worse than the worst part of hidden valley.
hehe so much for this plan. I think I'd better hide. He DID volunteer, and he is a very strong rider. Oh, well it's not like there aren't miles and miles of other great trails in the area...

Tell me about your experience with your GPS? I just got one and love/hate it. I took it running and it kept loosing the satellite. grrr I am still learning to use it.

    another GPS newbie!

Hey, we just got GPS at the elevenpointfive household, too. And the first place we used it was in Washington. Got some neat roads down, but we're very much still learning to use it.
